I think IM3 can get around $150M OW DOM and cross $300M by the end of ST2's OW. Probably finish around $400-450M DOM(probably closer to the lower end of that scale). OS I can see $500M probably. It'll be close but I think $1B WW is achievable, however it'll be difficult.

With the world premiere being held in Beijing on April 6th and a major Chinese star in the cast, it's guaranteed to do big business there.

Honestly it's kind of hard to see this not grossing a billion when I think about it...with how big Iron Man is here in the states and how big it's becoming overseas...

This has been a really weak first 1/4 of the year for movies. Much more so than in the last 2 years at least. That can only benefit the movie that opens the summer season. People will be ready for a big event movie again.

Yeah the box office is in the toilet right now, but apparently Oz is tracking really well so maybe that can break the slump a little bit.
Anyway, after seeing the trailer, i'm upping my prediction from 750 to 800 mill ww. |

Oz may break the slump a bit but I don't see it doing AIW numbers.

I doubt Oz even hits 200 m let alone 300 m.
Reviews a luke warm, people are avoiding movies more than ever, and the 3D/visual craze from the Avatar/AIW era is long over.

Me and every single person I know are taking breaks from going to the theatre until Iron Man 3 comes out. I've talked to a million people and every single one of them have said "Well, theres nothing good coming out soon, except Iron Man 3". I think its going to hit 1 billion, or at least get close to it.

Yeah, I think 1 billion is in the bag. This movie has mad hype, I don't think any other movie this year can even compare to the amount of hype that this movie has.

So you think IM3 won't build on its audience from Iron Man 2 at all? Even after the inflating influence of the Avengers?

I usually lowball just to be safe. I said the Avengers was going to make around a billion and look what happened there.
I think this'll probably make 700-800 million world wide... either way I think it goes without saying this'll be the highest grossing solo film Marvel studios has put out yet.

Boxoffice.com is projecting a $151 M OW for IM3, and a $375 M domestic run. If IM3 had an even ratio of domestic to foreign gross, that would put the Worldwide total at just over $900 M.
I imagine Disney is going to lay on the hype hard in the next 2 months, and if the reviews are Avengers/ IM1 level, this film will pop $1 B with ease.

^ Yeah...the OW may even be a bit of a lowball too. Either way, the foreign gross is going to be even larger than IM and IM2 proportionally because China is going to be a much bigger factor this time around. To put it in perspective, IM2 only gross $7m in China...IM3 wlil easily break $40m over there.

I'd say anywhere from 800m to 1b, 1 billion is certainly not outside the realm of possibility

Hopefully it's as great as the last two. If so, it should make a billion.
