Batman's suit now being armor in the New 52 was probably a decision because of The Dark Knight.

Batman's costume has been armoured since 1986 at least, as seen in The Dark Knight Returns.

Isn't that just a special armor he uses against Superman though? He wears something like cloth most of the time as he always did beforehand.

In TDK Returns, the chest emblem is a protective plate. They explain the yellow oval is to make it a target so he gets shot less elsewhere.

The armor concept is something that developed slowly, bit by bit, onto Batman over time, but -really- gained major appeal thanks to Tim Burton, with influence from Frank Miller.

Obviously, Nolan cranked that up to the next level. It's a self-improving franchise, bounces ideas off of itself through various mediums and series.

Batman's actually been depicted as wearing armor under his suit since the 1940's. It's just some writers decided to portray it that way others not. In TAS he didn't have any armor under his suit.

Yup, he's been depicted as wearing armor for the last 25 years, and even prior to the 60's in key storylines.

Wow, I've never seen that panel before. What issue?

How often was it portrayed back then? I've read piles of the old comics and not come across a single issue referencing armor til just now.

That's really it. Nolan didnt change what i thought about Tim Burton's Batman. I still like them. I still see the same flaws. Time maybe wasn't kind to some of its aesthetics , but that is an aspect inherent to filmmaking. It certainly wasn't because of Nolan , that some of the movie sets look dated.

A motion picture is not a gadget. In the exercise i made , the objects being evaluated are movies.
Well, I honestly don't like the Donner films all that much, so I don't know how much it would influence my opinion. But I'm sure it'll effect my view of those films in some way.

New products will often influence my opinion on older ones. If it's done better, often times a new take on something will expose flaws in the older take that I didn't notice, or didn't think as much about. So in that sense, I think it's perfectly understandable that something new could influence your opinion on something that was older.

That goes the same for movies. When I see a new take on a film, it changes my opinion on the original version in some way. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

News broke last night that Nolan is in talks to oversee the Justice League (or World's Finest) film. As expected, it generated tons of reaction. Mostly positives.

Because the Bale/Nolan combo is superb that have three incredible films under their belts. The problem is that, the way TDKR ended, but I'm on the boat that believes, IF the news is true...it will have no connection to the trilogy that was before. Warner Brothers can't get off the ground with anything unless Nolan is helping out, so why not just use his Batman in JL films, or World's Finest as you brought up, and just have no Batman outside of these films until the day WB can put their straps on and finally start making some Batfilms.

Yeah, it's silly to think it'll be in the same universe as the trilogy. That anyone is even considering it surprises me.

I am completely fine with using Bale again for this - in fact, it would be a crime not to.

All I wanna see is a kick-ass new suit for him to wear.

It'll be fun to get a wiser Bale-Batman with more prep-time moments. I can't wait to see his personality play against Cavill's Superman.

Extremely negative on Devin's site. The anti-Nolan sentiment is very strong over there.

After reading through the "Slamming" thread, I suppose the answer was 8 months. Maybe 6 or 7 as that is what the board has looked like since late January or February. And here I thought it would be at least until we got casting news on the supposed upcoming reboot.

Badass Digest. Devin has disliked Nolan ever since the MCU came into effect. He is one of the few who panned TDK in 2008, in favor of Iron Man. When The Avengers opened bigger than TDK, he wrote an editorial bragging about how it was better and shows audiences have outgrown TDK funk. Then when TDKR opened, he wrote an editorial about how it is not only a movie he did not care much for, but a love letter for fascism and authoritarianism.

I kid you not. Guy really does have it out for Nolan and those movies.

Devin is a tool of the highest order. There's just no way around that one.

He's like MovieWorldExpress, only he's actually smart, so his blatant "I don't like Batman to be so dark and realistic and don't even like Batman that much" fanboy rants are portrayed as intelligent critiques.

He did love Inception though, so I can't say he totally has it out for Nolan. But he definitely has it out for Nolan's Batman movies. He gave Spider-Man 3 a better rating than Batman Begins, that should say it all.

The problem I find with Badass digest is the amount of people there that consistently agree with the authors. No matter what, the first comment is always some sort of agreement. This doesn't happen on most other sites of this nature such as ain't it cool or slash film..

Kind of annoying but then again, he's staff regularly ban people.

For me any kind of backlash against the Nolan films comes from the at times insane fanbase. Nolan's films are great and yes TDKR is far weaker than the first two, but not bad on its own. For me personally I got tired of hearing people praise the Nolan films as though they didn't have a single flaw in them, and acting as if any other superhero films weren't even worth mentioning. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to did a Batman retrospective leading up to TDKR. When closing their TDK review one of the reviews said that some people say or consider The Avengers to be the best superhero movie ever and that they are wrong, but in the TDKR show when it was mentioned that TDKR didn't live up to the standards of the first two, his response was let's not compare this to TDK which is completely one sided to an extreme degree.

Most people didn't turn on Richard Donner but he didn't direct a disappointing third movie like Raimi and, to a lesser extent, Nolan did.

To fanboys you're only as good as your last movie.

I myself, disliked Nolan and Raimi's interpretation since day one, so I'm not surprised when someone realizes how overrated they can be.

I remember people bashing Burton's take back in 1995. Saying Val Kilmer was a much better Batman. That was a popular opinion from what I recall.

Batman Forever was one of the most popular movies that year. Oh, how times have changed.

He didn't pan TDK. Gave it 8.5/10. That's higher than I would rate it and I probably enjoy the film more than he does.

http://www.chud.com/15629/review-dar...e-devins-take/

He gave Iron Man a 8.5/10 as well:

Huh. I was thinking of his Batman Begins review it looks like.

http://www.chud.com/3347/review-batman-begins/

And he still trashed The Dark Knight in retrospect last May just to raise up The Avengers which he (crazily) worships as a harbinger for hope and change in America. Yeah...

http://badassdigest.com/2012/05/20/t...-and-cynicism/

Then there was him calling TDKR essentially propaganda for authoritarianism an being an anti-OWS film, which beyond being factually wrong shows a real lack of literary or historical knowledge about what Nolan was HEAVILY alluding to.

http://badassdigest.com/2012/07/22/t...-knight-rises/

So, I do think he has it out for this version of the character.
