A solid 8. I like the potential for the film. By not using Spider-Man's A-List #1 villain Green Goblin and saving him for a much bigger purpose/event and introducing Gwen Stacy as Peter first love--and better actors to boot. We'll have to see about what the sequel holds, so far so good.

I dont know. This movie is good. But it kind of is taking away the original Spider-Man films is that thenew film is too early for a reboot. It shouldn't have been exactly a decade to reboot this film. I think maybe 20 years after Spider-Man 3 could make a good reboot.

**/**** or 5 /10
This film goes through the motions... but thats about it. Its a by the number reboot. It hits the points of spiderlore its supposed by in a half assed way, and rolls along to the next point without spending any time developing things. Raimis gives everything more time to breathe, has more charm, and heart and is more enjoyable.

I watched it again and would still give it a 7. Its script and plot can be a mixed bag but the acting and directing are the real highlights of the film.

I give it an 8. It has really grown on me. Although it has it's flaws,I enjoy it. I esp. love the chemistry between Garfield and Stone. Emma was wonderful and so damn likeable as Gwen.

Finally saw this today. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. I really enjoyed it, but there were times where I felt the movie was rushing things along so they could back to developing Peter and Gwen's relationship. There were also times where I almost got the feeling I was watching two different films. Garfield and Stone were amazing, the suit looked gorgeous, and the Lizard worked better than I thought he would. Overall, it was a pretty good film, and I can't wait for the sequel.
EDIT: I plan on getting the film on DVD and I'll see if I like it better (or not) after I watch it again. Last edited by The Boy Scout; 03-25-2013 at 10:50 PM. |

The biggest disappointment when talking about how the film rushes things is Peter becoming Spider-Man. That whole montage was a joke, imo.

Why was the montage a joke? I thought they could have explained more about Peter making his web shooters, but then again, what else could they have really done? "Hmm, so that goes there, and this goes there, and when I press that button..."
My only true complaint about the montage is that the POV shot from the teaser was cut up. Otherwise, it was fine.

It wasn't that long of a moment for Peter to work on the suit besides quick snippets, the most time on the web shooters and then boom, he's in the suit. It was nothing better than Peter scribbling drawings on his notebook. I was expecting a longer take of Peter working on his suit, and I hope to see that in the next reboot at least.

If they spent more time showing Peter working on his costume, people would have complained that the movie spent too much time on that.
Gee, are you already talking about the "next reboot"? I don't think they would explore his origin again.
