Why does it say they are working with Ubisoft? Has Ubisoft written Ubisoft into the game as a game developer partnered with Abstergo!?

Maybe it's a new game studio that will be working on all AC games and are using the name from the game like NetherRealm got the name from MK!?

Somebody should tell them you can hunt ( ![]() ![]() ) animals in AC3, too. I don't want to be personally responsible for all the heart attacks and fainting spells that news is gonna cause, though. ....My only question now is if The White Whale will show up in this game.... (just call me Ishmael)

According to the Lost Archive DLC, Abstergo owns an Entertainment Studio, where they began developing the Animus for the public in 2012. So it seems like in the world of the story, Film Studios and Game developers would use an Animus to help develop historic backdrops. That said, it looks like AC: Lib and the ACIII multiplayer mode are video games made by UbiSoft (the Ubisoft in the world of the game) for the public. So with that in mind, does that mean that the present day stuff is the canonical continuation of the game, where people living in post 2012 event are playing a video game about pirates? They abduct Desmond's body and create the video game? Is that how they are going to allow us to interact with other characters we're familiar with? Perhaps the background stuff is just them plugging in to Desmond's mind for the first time, so what we see in the the past is canon too? Or perhaps we DO play the video game, but they haven't altered it? But then it says "they will become apart of the AC universe". So now I feel like this was reported wrong and that the game that Ubisoft (of the game world) and Abstergo Entertainment are developing is simply the multiplayer mode of ACIV. Hmm... very curious.

Not only are PETA's priorities shamefully misplaced, but they're also downright insulting:
"In Assassin's Creed 4, you get ahead by killing. Joe Shmoe who plays this game in his mother's basement in the safety and comfort of his home will feel a sense of accomplishment by killing this whale." PETA speaks out of ignorance and an overwhelming urge to picks fights where there aren't any to begin with. I strongly encourage everyone to point and laugh, never taking their ridiculous complaints seriously. What a joke. Normally I don't go out of my way to kill animals in games, I tend to leave them be unless they outright attack me, but I do end up buying this game I am going to make a concentrated effort to kill as many virtual whales as possible. Good work PETA. |

God, I hate PETA. There HAS to be other animal rights groups that actually care about animals and aren't jokes, they should getting attention and not these morons.
I care deeply about animals and it p***es me off that these assclowns are complaining about f***ing fake whales instead of doing stuff about real animals. The whole organization needs to be destroyed... Or go through a serious reformation.

I love everything I've seen about this game so far. Hope it can live up to all this potential.

Probably; or mobile. As the article says, it's important to note the Digital Arts imprint on the picture.
But with a name like "Phoenix," I'm wondering if it might allude to an (ancient?) Egyptian setting....

I had a feeling some one would mention that with Desmond. I 'm not sure if they will be that obvious. We'll see what happens.

So yeah, I'd say a good likelihood that the "Phoenix" name might have a double meaning, in the present and the past. And keep in mind that Desmond isn't the only dead person who could be a "phoenix" rising from the ashes: ....Lucy.

Desmond makes the most sense. Not just because he was the guy but because his body was charred wasn't it. He is the only one that would literally rise from the "ashes".

That's true.
Although, if anything, I could see it referring to some process of Abstergo learning to take memories from the deceased. Also, is anyone else annoyed that we're playing a Templar in this game, accessing the memories? I still feel like we've been given heaps of insight into the modern day templars but hardly any insight into the modern Assassins.

I think that has more to do with the fact that most of the Assassins were killed off. Their numbers are much smaller compared to the Templars.

Yeah but there is still a structure and hierarchy. What about Erudito?

I don't think we are playing as an actual Templar, they said it's someone hired by Abstergo Entertainment. They are trying to make you feel like you are the one directly controlling Edward and not controlling a player controlling another player. Pretty cool in my opinion.

Im hoping that'll cut down on the future aspects of the game. If its just 'us', there isnt much of a need to pull the player out of the animus.

The future stuff really turns me off, honestly. I don't care about it at all and rushed through all of it as quickly as possible in AC1 and 2. I'm still not sold on AC4 yet, but knowing there is a minimal amount of future nonsense would definitely be a point in its favor.
