Oh how awful.

Poor Billy Bob.

At least Halle got an Oscar out of it.

It was like three major sex scenes. She certainly didn't win the Oscar for her acting.

I hate when people say stuff like this. It is unfair, sexist, and often attached with a side-dish of racism.

Don't know what to tell you. Sometimes it's true.

And it was even publicly discussed during that awards season, that perhaps she won the Oscar more for the subject matter than her actual performance.

It's a good movie, and she's very good in it, but she wasn't that good in the movie, nor was she better than the other Best Actress nominees that year. She screamed and cried in a couple of scenes, and had sex three or so times. The rest of the time she was her usual somewhat bland self.

Meh.

MONSTER'S BALL was the movie that made me realize that Halle's something of a lazy actress. She has immense potential, but she tends to mail it in and coast on her presence.

Who cares. Halle's in the DoFP movie, it's a done deal, so let's hope she's good in it - and that the costume dept give her a good wig and outfit. They'll kill her off if she isn't good lol... it's Storm's last chance, at least in the Halle version.

My main concern is for the script. The Jack the Giant Slayer screenplay was criticised by reviewers of the film, and yet Singer filmed that script.

I wish I could take a look at the DoFP screenplay to make sure there aren't any X3-isms in it.

The Berry's finest performance.

Actually, that film is what made me quite like Halle. I always appreciate when an actor/actress/director receives their Razzie in person. It always show such a good sense of humour.

This is the common "other people said it so it must be true" argument. From the minute the movie was screened at film festivals it began to generate buzz for her and Thorton's performances. This was legitimate praise from the film world. It's not until awards season picked up that people started bringing up the graphic sex scenes.

What I'm saying is unfair and sexist is how actresses are constantly made to be figures of hate during and after these awards shenanigans. This year it was Anne Hathaway and how annoying her awards speeches became. Then most of the time you can add in a little "she only won because she got naked". And a bonus just for Halle, sprinkle in a little bit of "she played a black, shameless wh*re, so she must be one in real life too". Then mix and let fester into vitriol.

There are many people (see what I'm doing here) that say she completely deserved her Oscar. In my opinion she was fantastic except for a few bland scenes, but you're wrong that her acting was all hysterics. The final scene in Monster's Ball is often cited as her best work in the movie and she does not even speak a single world or make a single sound.

I don't think she's a lazy actress, but I do think that she is not always able to rise above the material. That is also my final analysis on her performance as Storm. Halle wasn't able to overcome bad writing and bad directing on her own merits. However, I am optimistic that both she and Singer have learned a lot over the last decade.

Even if Bryan/Vaughn contributed to the script of DOFP, Kinberg's participation still worries me. The film/writing department might be only as strong as their weakest link. I hope I'm wrong with continuously bashing Kinberg because if I'm right, DOFP ending up as an average film or worse, a mediocre film will be a discussion for years to come especially Bryan Singer is the director of the movie.

He's writing the new Star Wars too though, so hopefully everyone will focus their hatred on that.

I don't care if he writes for the Star Wars films. It has nothing to do with the X-Men series.

Simon Kinberg is going to f*** this script UP. I can just feel it. He has NEVER done a good script. Like...ever. Why is he still employed? And I'm not trying to be funny here, I really mean this--why the hell is he still getting big gigs like this?

I saw that clip of her receiving that Razzie. She was hysterically funny...and humbled. I actually grew to like her at that point.

I do not miss the Hype Catwoman Forums though. Talk about Hypesters fighting non-effing-stop! It was like Secret Wars up in that beeya every day!

I'm actually surprised we have YET to hear about someone coming in board to do a rewrite. Big films like this always have them.

Perhaps it'll just be Singer, since we know he's being writing on it.

Well, in my opinion, acting is acting. Whether it's via words with a good script, or being silent while engaging in a pulsating sex scene it's all about getting into the moment and making the audience feel your sorrow, your pain or your ectasy.

I'll put it to you this way: during that scene with Thornton...the way she was creaking out "Make me feel goooooood!"...I gotta be honest...I actually cleared my throat and took a sip of my soda. Then I realized that simple sleazy scene had actually turned ME on and I'm as gay as the sky is blue . I was so damn confused when I walked out of that theater. So yeah, she was definitely throwing herself into it...ahem.

When you can take your audience out of their comfort zones you've accomplished your goal as an actor. That s*** was straight up primitive and she deserved that Oscar.

That could very well be why Harris and Dougherty were hanging out with Singer, as per that twitpic.

And if that's the case, I'm a happy camper.

Is there a hope that Vaughn's team will do the rewrites? I'm just very concerned about this script situation. The reason why First Class did so well is because the writing was smart and sophisticated. I wasn't thrilled with the selection of characters, but even I can't take away the credit the film deserves for its style and execution.

And I don't think Simon Kinberg touched that script, am I correct?

Yes, I hope so. Let us raise our voices in prayer now. Lord Jesus deliver us from evil.
