I'm not sure this counts as an "unpopular" opinion... it seems like most folks I talk to don't much care for Franco. That said, I think he's a great actor.

I think Franco did a great job in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I didn't care much for that movie, but after I saw it, my view changed completely. Is one of the best movies I saw that year, and Franco certainly helped.

You could say we're just a bunch of Francophiles.

No, there are a lot of roles I didn't care for. Pineapple Express was bad. And his character in Spider Man 3 pissed me off.

I thought Franco started out a little stiff in Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, but overall he was fine.
Ironically, considering I think Spider-Man 3 is by far the weakest movie, I thought Franco's acting was the best in it.

Most definitely. Maybe because he had such a wide variety of emotions.

Every once in a long while you'll end up with a bad movie, that has a great performance in it. It always makes for an odd experience.

It makes me want to pluck that person out and drop them into a better movie where they can be appreciated.

That reminds me, actually...
I was always really impressed by Woody Harrelson in Semi-Pro. The movie itself was a waste of time, but his performance was one of the strongest I've seen from him, strangely.

![]() Also on an unrelated note, I thought Franco was great in "Pineapple Express", right up there with any thing Cheech and Chong have ever done. Not that easy to portray stoned on screen, many have tried and many have failed.

I agree about Harrelson, but I actually really like the movie itself as well. I get how it's not for everyone, though.

I love Leon so much.
The last action scene is one of the best I've seen in any movie. |

This might not be unpopular, just random, but...
The girl who played Rue in The Hunger Games turned in a damn good performance. I'd say here character was the highlight of the film outside of Lawrence's.

I disagree, The Master is a great film. The cinematography is incredible, the score is engrossing, and the way in which its written is the most innovative and brilliant writing work I've seen in a film in aquite a while.

Speaking of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and great performances in not so great movies: Sandy Lyle in Along Came Polly.
He stole every scene he was in, very funny. He should do more comedy. |

@ Cconn. That's cool. I loved the score, the cinematography and the acting as well (especially PSH, a true "Master"), but I was also bored and to me that is the Capital Sin as far as movies go.
But to each their own and I dig your cinephic (if that's a word) enthusiasm

Sam Elliot in Hulk.
Honestly, I think his performance may have been one of the absolute best in any comic movie.
