I think my favorite Prison Movie is "Escape from Alcatraz."
Another great film from the underrated Don Siegel!

That is an underrated movie just as Siegel is an underrated director.

A couple of other prison movies I like are THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION and BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ.

I thought it was fun. The main leads have good chemistry. The premise is absurd , but the films knows it and tries to be a cool action flick. It's exactly what they promise in the trailer. Renner killing witches and cursing.

If they ever reboot the SAW or Twilight film franchise, Michael Bay should direct it
Director of messed up movies for an already messed up franchise
And LionsGate should carry it

Michael Bay is a great visual director. I think rebooting those franchises would be a waste of his talents.

I re-watched The Master tonight. I didn't enjoy it the first time I saw it, but for whatever reason it's really clicking with me tonight. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Criterion is bringing Guillermo Del Toro's Devils Backbone to DVD and Blu Ray in July.

Quote:
Having already put out a sterling special edition of Guillermo del Toro’s CRONOS, The Criterion Collection will bring the director’s terrific 2001 ghost story THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE to DVD and Blu-ray in July.

Like his subsequent smash PAN’S LABYRINTH, THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE sees del Toro exploring the horrors of wartime though a supernatural prism and the eyes of a child—in this case a 10-year-old boy in an orphanage during the Spanish Civil War who confronts human evil and a lingering specter. Criterion’s Blu-ray and two-DVD set, streeting July 30, will present the movie in a new 2K digital film restoration in 1.85:1 widescreen, approved by del Toro and cinematographer Guillermo Navarro, with new English-subtitle translations, plus 5.1 Surround DTS-HD Master Audio on the Blu-ray.

I have an free advanced screening invitation for tomorrow night in Long Beach, sadly their not releasing the title. The only info states, "From a major studio brings a highly anticipated summer release." The film isn't rated yet but states it's more than likely to be pg-13. They have a questionnaire for related movies that includes: Pirates of the caribbean, Rango, Rise of the planet of the apes, sherlock holmes, wrath of the titans and oz the great and powerful. Now any idea what film this might be? From the info, my first inclination was "The Lone Ranger", maybe Pacific Rim. So it could go either way, I'm contemplating going, but it could always end up being a left field film i have no interest in.

A bit of a drive. I got lucky with seeing "This is the end" my last time. So i'm hopeful. Just wanted to see if there were any guesses to what it might be.

I'm watching Drive Angry right now, and I get why the boards favorite Kane called it a Ghost Rider film
Like a lot of Nicholas Cage films, it's lousy, but incredibly fun thanks to him being in it

So from the "cough means a person is dying" trope department, I have another one that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere; there's no more immediate and recognizable symbol of loneliness than a solitary Chinese take-out box sitting on someone's table.

Howdy. I have a female friend coming to NYC from Stockholm, Sweden on Nov. 30th and leaving Dec. 12. Any films of note being released in that span of time? Any recommendations? Just so you know, my friend enjoys films with witty dialogue (her English is excellent), dark humor, and action with great visual flair.
