As a German I loved Waltz a long time before he became famous in Hollywood. He could pull off nearly any villain IMHO but he's way too old for playing Joker.
Plus: His Austrian accent would fit that mad psychiatrist scheme of Hugo Strange perfectly. Siegmund Freud was an Austrian also, for example.

In the new movie(s) they could give Hugo Strange an Austrian / German background (with his real name would be Hugo "What-ever-German-name-they-think-of") who is calling himself Hugo Strange after he began working in Gotham.

Agreed. I hated his portrayal when he was first introduced in those few minutes he had in S1, but in S2, I thought he got a better handle on what he was going for and really knocked it outta the park.

That was definitely his best performance. I was in agony leading up to that episode because I wasn't sure I could handle Scott's Moriarty being on my screen for that long. Surprisingly, I found him quite tolerable. Still don't want him near the Riddler or any other Batman character, though.

You know, whenever I see Cumberbatch mentioned on casting threads it's always for a villain, but what if he were to play the hero? Could he be Bruce, or would he look strange in the cowl?

Karl Urban for Batman would be great. Or Manu Bennett. Manu has certainly got the physique to pull off quite the intimidating Batman; something we haven't really seen yet on film. He's not a bad actor either, based on his role in Spartacus. He can certainly do grim and intense.

I don't really care who they cast as Batman, because the Justice League movie is going to suck balls.

If they do make any future Batman movies though, I hope they don't cast it based on looks. Michael Keaton is about as un-Batman looking as you can get, yet he gave arguably the best performance.
