This was incredible to watch, It's the old Zemeckis we all knew. Denzel delivered and the drama was really compelling.

Holy man. There are 2 reasons to see this movie. First Denzel's best performance since Training Day. And secondly that plane crash. Just wow it needs to be seen to be beleieved. It's so harrowing and scary. Absolutely fantastic film

This movie was great. Zemeckis hasn't lost his touch and I haven't seen a performance from Denzel this good since Training Day. This was definitely more heavy than I thought it was gonna be. But damn this was pretty powerful.

This film went from being a film about a plane crash to compelling character drama...I think it was a very good film. Still did not get the vibe of the the film being this type of film.

Loved this movie. One of the best movies of 2012. I loved how the trailer mislead you. It makes for a better watch. Wish more movies would do this. This movie sobered me up. Really saw myself in Washingtons character

Finally watched it. Really liked it but hated a few characters like the landlord and moments like the scene "Praise Jesus." and Denzel's scene with his son. It was just way over the top for this movie which had such great serious moments and content and then I was taken out of the movie with some of those parts.

None of those scenes were over the top. I've had spats like that with my father. I've seen landlords like the creep. I've seen overly religious people. The only flaw I had was Whip having a relationship with the woman. Totally uneeded

I don't know, but for me this movie felt like an R-rated afterschool special. Denzel was very good in the role, and that plane sequence was very harrowing... but I don't think it breaks fresh ground in terms of drug addicts trying to break the habit. Zemeckis' direction is solid and supporting performances are good (save for Goodman's character, WTF?), but I think this pic is a tad overrated. Song usage was too on-the-nose at times as well.

Maybe if Zemeckis took some inspiration from Requiem from a Dream, it'd feel less preachy. Zemeckis and Gatins should've taken more critical risks instead of a softer, 'safe' ending.

for anyone who's interested, here's a link to the plane crash that the crash in the film is "loosely" based on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_...ision_and_film
