Both are relentless and often extreme in their attempts to entertain, but for the most part, they don't try to do more than that, (Raimi has shown he's capable of more in stuff like A Simple Plan but I digress) and they succeed more often than they outright fail. In regards to Raimi, he's more accepted by the fan community because (at least for the Evil Dead series) he appeals to the more low-budget cult horror fans, (and the DIY, down and dirty independent stuff is more noble) while Bay appeals to the masses on a big budget popcorn event film level.
Agreed too. Even though they have both their specific flaws and talents, I'm not sure that Bay and Raimi are very comparable. I like them both almost for different reasons and think they both have their style. I still prefer Raimi though On a side note, I also think Raimi's "The Gift" is underrated (especially Keanu Reeves, also an underrated actor.)

The funny thing is for a long time I was in the camp of fans who was let down by KOTCS and liked it the least, but it grew on me a lot with repeat viewings. I won't argue it's issues but I still find it to be fun and a fine addition to the series. I like that it took a cue from TOD and didn't try to rehash Raiders like TLC did.

I know liking TLC the least of the series is definitely very unpopular. I wonder if anyone else like it the least of the bunch, even with KOTCS in the mix? It's still a great movie, don't get me wrong, but to me it's not on the level of the rest.

Raimi kinda lost my respect with Oz.

He ruined that movie for no conceivable reason.

_ Yeah, I agree it did get a lot of things right. I need to watch it again, it's been a while.

_ I probably like it the least too. And I also think it's the right thread for this opinion

I don't love them either. I enjoyed some parts of them.

1. Evil Dead 2
2. Evil Dead
3. The Gift
4. A Simple Plan

We're of a rare breed for sure

TLC is still a great movie but of the Indy series, it's the only one that leaves me with a "been there, done that" feeling compared to the rest. Raiders is the original classic adventure with Indy pursuing the Lost Ark and trying to get it from the reach of the Nazis, while TOD and KOTCS both take him on new and exciting adventures. TLC is the only one trying to mimic Raiders and IMO it suffers from that. It's too comedic at times for me too, I hate how Sallah and Brody were rendered to comic relief in it and how even Indy himself was made the butt of jokes in it, sometimes. Humorus Indy isn't my preferred version of him.

It's strange. It has all the story, character and visual intangibles to make for a pretty awesome Oz movie, but from Franco being terribly miscast, to the various actors' performances (it was pretty obvious they were directed to act that way), to its pacing and editing, he just kinda seemed to suck all of the good out of it.

Movies I love (or really like) that cause my friends and family to question my taste and judgement in life.

LXG

Chronicles of Riddick

GI JOE

Quantum of Solace

John Carter

All Cameron Crowe movies, Even Elizabethtown and We Bought a Zoo.

After escorting my partner to The Ugly Truth, Mamma Mia, PS I Love You, and Leap Year I didn't hate her. I secretly enjoyed them (of course this was denied, and I remembered these films when wanting to see movies she didn't.)

I Am Legend is one of my favorite films starring Will Smith
The regular ending, with his character's death

The first two acts of that film are brilliant.
It's been years since I've seen it, so maybe my opinion would change, but I remember thinking it went downhill once the mother and her son popped up.

I thought his behavior toward them was pretty rude, and against what he wished for
Not abnormal, sadly

I liked this film a lot too. I haven't seen it in a long time though.

Because I thought the scene where his dog dies was too sad I can't watch films where dogs die

Great film. Some people consider it to be a kinda subpar Fargo, I don't agree. It's its own film. Maybe not as great as Fargo, but still a great movie

Maybe not in content, but in terms of style they're both somewhat manic.

I think the mistake I made was finally reading I Am Legend like right before I saw the movie, so I had in my head the way it was supposed to go, then hated the ending.

Have you seen The Last Man on Earth? It stars Vincent Price and is basically the first adaptation of the story I Am Legend. Some disagree, but I think it's the closest adaptation of the book, especially when compared to Omega Man and Smith's I Am Legend.

The sad thing in that scene -and I'm not a dog person- is the doctor was forced to kill Sam while comforting her after she saved his life

After watching Prisoner of Azkaban I came to the realization: "Movies based on novels need to be seen before novels are read"
That was the only movie I saw before reading the novel it was based on, and couldn't help but wonder; "where are those scenes? The guys in the bus didn't Wonder and talk about the scar after the Minister of Magic underling picked up Harry" And other things

I have not seen that. I have been wanting to see both The Last Man on Earth and Omega Man, but have just been too lazy to do so.

For me, I guess in so many cases I want to read before I see the movie, almost like "well, if I watch the movie, I will never want to read it because it will be spoiled." That's not always the case. I want to say that I saw Big Fish before I read the book, and they are both just these wonderful, separate things. Like the movie is enough of the story/tone of the book, but at the same time completely its own animal. I just love them both so much.

Given the choice I will always read the book first. In many cases I avoid seeing the movie, or if I do I never revisit them.
