I was watching the trailer again. And just looking at some of the shots/visuals in it... it makes me think to 300 and Watchmen. He really is a good visual/action director. And even his handling of characters is really good.

Was so happy when I found out he was directing this film. Him, Nolan and Goyer... sweet

Same here, knowing its a story by Goyer and Nolan I wasn't worried about dialogue. Knowing Zack Snyder is director I wasn't worried about visuals and knowing the cast I wasn't worried about performances. This could turn out to be one of the best blends for a film ever, its like the best of all worlds.

If he hooks up some of the flying action scenes like that owl movie he directed, I'm more than fine with that.

I just watched Sucker Punch and it's an interesting experiment to say the least. It shares somthing with inception in that it has fantasy worlds within a fantasy world. The Brothel is a good choice as a representation of the mental hospital, as the character clearly has dealt with issues of sexual abuse, and I get that every time Babydoll dances that she puts herself in another fantasy where she feels more empowered. However, I think Snyder jumped around a little too much .

Why can't you stick to one fantasy and let the empowerment come from there rather than creating multiple scenarios? Sucker Punch needed more focus . It's a great visual experience and the story had potential, but it doesn't hit the mark completely.

Would you have seen it again in the theatre?
Or buy the DVD?

What worries me most about the movie is the editing.

I feel the same way... And I also worry about sitting in that theater and just be feeling engaged in the story. These are of course just fears. Doesn't mean that I think this will be the case.

I liked Sucker Punch, it's smart and beautiful, but I get why many don't like it. Snyder wasn't successful at conveying the premise, so people got confused and couldn't get, at least not from the first watch.

I think it's better if he got rid of the third layer, (which was more confusing although it got the best visuals) and replaced that with more character development and more work on the ending.

I would buy it definitely, episodically considering that it's probably cheap now. I think Snyder deserves credit for taking a risk like Sucker Punch was. He was trying to go beyond the surface level stuff he's known for.

This is my feeling as well. The film would work better if these changes were made.

Cool, I like how the video makes it seem like MOS is a milestone in his evolution.

No Guardians of Gahoole? I think it's an underrated movie.

I love watching that video. They definitely should have used guardians, such a visually amazing movie. Can you imagine what that vid will be like after MOS is released!

I don't even like any of Zack Snyder's previous films, but that was truly a brilliantly-edited video.

Snyder knows how to bring comic-book visuals to life, you can't deny that about him. Even if you think it's style over substance, you see a clip from one of his flicks it's very comic-booky.

Yeah that video is fantastic

Also nice too see some positive comments about Sucker Punch. I think it got a bad rep fast because it wasn't what people where expecting. But for me, that's always a bonus.

It's similar to how I felt after Seven Psychopaths. The trailers and stuff had made me think it was going to be this straightforward black comedy. But it wasn't at all. It had layers, a film within a film and was just totally different from what I expected.

And it impressed me for doing that.

Sucker Punch I think people expected to be a straightforward hot girls kicking ass film... And instead it was a film that kind of makes a point about hot girl kicking ass films while also revelling in the genre.

I have to admit, I didn't enjoy it the first time either. But the more I see it, the more I do

I didn't care for Sucker Punch but it was mesmerising visually. Even though I got confused by the story etc I was never bored.

Its funny cause I don't think I love a Zack Snyder film, only one I've liked was Watchmen. Didn't like Dawn of the Dead or 300 (haven't seen the Owls movie yet) so its actually bizarre how confident I am in him making MOS, still thought I stated my reasons previously Snyders visuals combined with a story from Goyer & Nolan and a great cast is a great blend

It's weird, I've been a Snyder fan since 300, but when his name was in the running for MOS directors I was more against it than for it. I just thought it'd be too dark and stylised.

TBH it wasn't until that one interview with him when he talked about Superman being probably the only movie that he'd ironically like to approach in a world of reality rather than something stylised, that I started to feel he was a comfortable fit. The way he talked about it just reassured me he understood what this reboot needs to be.

And since then, seeing the footage (still beautiful, but like a watercolour rather than a pastel painting if you know what I mean), has only reinforced my faith

It's interesting that I have yet to see Sucker Punch. It'll should soon come on the TV one of these days. LOL

I had no desire to watch it mainly because I'm not at all into this type of genre which is influenced by Japanese anime (Snyder himself is very much influenced by the Japanese film & TV genres).

I saw Dawn of the Dead, 300 & Watchmen (ultimate & theatrical cuts) and they are all very good. While they're exceptionally good in term of film-making, the story dragged on a bit especially Watchmen. The Watchmen is a highly underrated film, if you're an older person you can pick out a lot of subtle visual cues in the film - I recognised most of them. The film being more of a political polemic and an alternate history with the inclusion of the superheroes. For example, in the opening segment, the nurse was spontaneously kissed by a woman instead of the sailor in the actual photo made famous in Life magazine, a good use of what-if scenario.

The ending of Watchmen bring to my mind the kind of genre that was covered earlier by writer like Philip K Dick in his novelisation, "The Man in the High Castle". Dick used the "I Ching" as a literary device. In the book, sever characters read Abendsen's book, "The Grasshopper Lies Heavy" and it was supposedly to be a true story.

I have NO doubt that we will see several scenes of superman that will be goosebump inducing...Now I'm not saying it will be the best film ever or anything like that, but I have no worries about snyder being able to deliver on the superman action/heroic scenes. That's what he's good at.
