That said, I do like the suggestion of Katrina Law, though I've never seen her act.
It's not that Gamora can't be played by someone who's not tall, it's that she won't be. I've already stated my case in the casting thread, but to reiterate, whether or not you think it matters, Marvel actually does take height into account when casting their characters.

My post from the older version of the casting thread:
Quote:
Jaimie Alexander, who plays the only other Amazonian type character in the MCU, is 5'9. You think it's a coincidence that Marvel cast someone of that height in that type of role? It's not. Look at all the other Asgardians: Hemsworth-6'4, Hiddles-6'2, Ray Stevenson-6'4, Josh Dallas-6'1, Zach Levi-6'4, Idris Elba-6'4, you get the point. Despite what you guys are saying height definitely matters to Marvel whether or not it matters to you. Quote me on this, whoever is cast as Gamora will be 5'7+.
Sure Marvel could use camera tricks or lifts and such, but they won't do that. The only actors they've had to do that for is Anthony Hopkins and Robert Downey Jr. because they just HAD to cast those actors despite their heights or any other deficiencies. Characters like Gamora on the other hand will be cast the same way Thor, Sif, Cap, Volstagg, Bucky, Star-Lord, Drax ect. are cast, with height in mind.

Asgardians are supposed to be generally tall in character. And yes, you're probably right that the casting director took height into consideration when they cast Asgardian roles. But GOTG is about a wide array of aliens from many different worlds, and they don't have a sameness or homogeneous nature at all. They can make Gamora as tall or short as they want; they can make Drax as tall or short as they want.

There'll be a lot of deciding factors in who gets Gamora's role, but height is unlikely to be one of them.

I don't normally complain about exact height, its just that Emilia Clarke is not just "shorter than preferable", she really comes off as tiny. Gamorra really shouldn't look like she's a child, next to the other cast members.

Star-Lord and Drax are already 6'2 and 6'6. It's quite obvious that they'll "want" Gamora to be able to look like the most dangerous woman in the universe while standing next to them.

Height won't be one of the deciding factors because it'll be one of the things that are already pre-decided, like age range and ethnicity (Well not ethnicity in this case considering she's a green alien, but in general).

Again, heightism. Who says a short girl can't be the most dangerous woman in the universe? Is there a height requirement on being a badass? I've known a lot of short women who are absolute holy terrors who could beat the **** out of people.

I dig the Abbie Cornish choice. She is my top choice for Ms Marvel, though.

No worries, Emilia Clarke is playing Holly Golightly on Broadway until the end of April. Then she's jumping back into GOT.

Wonder why no one ever mentions Anne Hathaway as a possibility for Gamora? She only has one film lined up for 2014 right now and it's just Rio 2. She meets the height and age requirements too.

Please no. Keep her far away from the MCU.

Kunis is the size of an anorexic ferret. I dont think they need to cast an Amazon, but they'd need forced perspective to make her look Gamora-like. Not to mention that shes ridiculously overrated as an actor. Shes been good in exactly one movie, a role that by her own admission was basically a *****y version of herself ( Black Swan). Marvel can do better.

Rosario is getting rave reviews for her work in Trance (including a surprising nude scene). Here's hoping.

The only MCU role I could see Anne Hathaway playing is Wasp, but that's highly unlikely.

Why only Wasp? She already showed she can play the role of a tough woman with Catwoman.

I'd love to see Hathaway in the MCU. As a villain actually, not sure which one though.

I'd like Olga Kurylenko or Berenice Marlohe. One of those two.

I was watching Spartacus and though maybe Cynthia Addai-Robinson might have potential for Gamora. Tried looking up her height and age, but can't find anything.

God, I hope not.
Granted, she's almost certainly not going to be wearing the dental-floss thongkini, but I hope to hell they don't go with the new GOTG's generic Mass Effect armor for everybody. Boooooring
