That's in no way Franco's fault, though. Same thing with Spider-Man 3: he was great as Harry once more, but the film was awful.

He didn't sound like a jerk at all. I felt he was accurate and I have the same feelings about TAS-M.

Yeah that's basically what he's doing.

If you say so I guess, lol.

James Franco is most definitely a well-opinionated guy, so it wasn't a shocker to what he said, imo.

Lol, and you're saying otherwise because you don't share his opinion...how is one right and the other wrong?

He's a little too opinionated if you ask me.

But, when you view how James Franco acts like in interviews and talk shows...he's that vocal with his opinions, lol. Some definitely hate it for sure, and you and Picard are two of them, but I didn't find it so harsh.

spider-man came across a bit too aggressive and thug like with his quips in tasm1. they felt more like insults the way they were delivered.

spidey should frustrate his enemy by appearing like he does not take them seriously, hence jovial quipping. instead we got these arrogantly delivered remarks. they just didn't sit right with me.

maybe it's andrew's voice that's factoring into it? i dunno... not a fan of tasm1 quips.

I'll take "Here's your change!" than anything Spidey says in TAS-M.

I can understand the aggressiveness. He wasn't the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man yet. He was a vigilante hunting down the man who killed his uncle. When he fights Lizard in school, he's more like the Spider-Man we know.

If he was just hunting down someone...why try to joke around? I never got that. A silent Spider-Man just on a "hunt" would've been fine.

Here's your change was okay. The only time we got anything close to an actual Spidey personality in the Riami films was "That's a nice outfit, did your husband make it for you?"

I'm glad TASM started moving in the right direction. It still needs to go farther though. And not just in terms of quips, but really displaying the Spider-man "personality." It doesn't need to be a constant stream of one-liners, but just displaying his witty/sarcastic way of talking.

After watching some of the first Spider-man, it feels like Maguire's Spider-man treats Spider-man like a job, hence the lack of jokes. He has a little fun but he's mostly focused on the responsibility. Not really sure how Garfield treats it, any thoughts?

^ Well...I don't think Garfield's Spider-Man know anything of responsibility yet anyways. Case in point, breaking his promise to Captain Stacy in the end of the bloody film.

He didn't break it. He made a remark about breaking it, but he didn't. In 2 we will see if he does.

Bingo. That witty/sarcastic way of talking was something that was almost completely absent from the first trilogy. There was a bunch of that type of way of talking from Spidey in ASM. Just the dialogue that was interjected in the high school fight alone was spot on perfect, imo.

"I'm swingin' here"
"Well, alright, that was fun."
"Crotch!"
"Yuck, that's disgusting"
"Aw, man, that sucked!"
"Ok, so you don't wanna talk?!...(webs his mouth) There ya go!"
"...Mother Hubbard."

Anyone else really dig the sound effects they used for the mechanical webshooters?

Those lines...I thought were very awful. The lines that aren't bold, they were alright.

I thought they were all solid. They just need to keep pushing in that direction. The films need to stop being afraid of letting Spidey have a personality.

No. But tell me about the cut where Pete breaks his promise. What happens?

O that sounds the same. There's plenty at fault in the film, so better off sticking to things that actually happen rather than making sh** up.

I thought they were all solid as well. I'd like to see them continue with that same direction and let Spidey open up even more...let him have even more fun with his banter.

Making **** up?

Don't make me laugh.

Peter makes a promise to leave Gwen alone when Captain Stacy is dying.

Peter brushes Gwen off when she visits him, and that's followed by Aunt May telling Peter he is good enough for her.

Peter finally speaks to Gwen in the end.

If you don't think that is Peter breaking the promise, then I guess nothing short of Peter screaming out "We're back together!" would change your mind.
