X2 got my favorite score of the franchise, so I'm stoked about Ottman also doing DOFP.

I think this is a very good orchestral version of the animated series starting at 13 seconds, it's more upbeat than previous versions.. could totally work with an X-Men movie .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6QEy97dU7E

Nice, though I prefer this orchestral version.

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

I love how big and booming it is.

Henry Jackman's work on X-Men: First Class especially the Main Theme and moreso the Magneto Theme were perfect. Just absolutely beautiful, amazing pieces of music.

I also love John Ottman's X2 Suite. Love it.

I'd like to see them fuse the two together. Not in one piece of music, but keep the beats of the Magneto Theme in the film. Use the X2 Suite or something similar throughout the film with perhaps a few nods to the X-Men: First Class Main Theme. Kind of like how Ottman scored Superman Returns....creating new music all the while honoring and incorporating John Williams' work.

Here he would be honoring and building on/expanding Henry Jackman's work as well as his own. Could be something special.

Wow, I thought John Powell will have more fans in here.

X2 had a VERY GOOD OST but didn´t have any memorable tracks except the main titles and probably the Jean´s one.

X3 on the other hand, was just EPIC.

I get chills everytime I see Warren crying and then the zoom in at his back while the "bathroom titles" theme begins playing.

The Phoenix theme, made the scene its own.

The attack on Alcatraz...

I actually was hoping for a joint collaboration between Ottman and Powell.

Sighs...

Powell's music in X-Men: The Last Stand seemed hokey. It seemed almost tongue in cheek, like a parody of a superhero theme. It was too light. Too cartoonish.

X3's music was more memorable. X2's music was okay but not outstanding.

Totally agree with you psylockolussus,

I disagree with Robin91939 regarding the cartoonish thing. X3 was meant for a bigger scale than X2, and the music shows... even though the final product didnt meet the expectations.

But I´d love to see a joint work between Powell and Ottman. Just like Hans Zimmer and Howard did.

Never was a fan of Jackman's XM:FC score (or a fan of his in general). I actually believe that score is overrated up here. Besides the droning and MV/RC sound. The main theme sounded like a rip off of Silvestri's GI Joe main theme from GI Joe:TROC, which didn't impress me either. It didn't make me think X-men at all, but that it was a generic superhero theme, which could fit any superhero movie without adding any impact to it. And one of the tracks reminded me of the "Time" track from Zimmer's Inception soundtrack, which is a problem for me. I also found the Magneto theme (or whatever that was) repetitive without any nuance each time it was used. Plus I don't think it fits Magneto at all. It only works with an assassin seeking vengeance on those who hurt him. All it does is let the audience know that the crap is about to hit the fan. That's another track that you could play in any movie without adding any impact. It lacks just about as much depth as Zimmer's Joker motif, imo.

Hopefully Ottman will ignore Jackman's contributions and brings back his own better theme. It'll be nice for once in this franchise that an X-men theme evolves.

I do agree with how x3 sounds a bit hokey compared to x1 and 2. It's a bit more whimsical, especially in the utterly disasterous danger room sequence.

I love the x3 score, I've listened to it just as much as the x2. The problem with 3's score is that it's connected to a crap movie, so i dont feel the same joy I get from listening to x2 or x1s score.

I've loved every x move score thus far, and have high hopes for DOFP and Wolverine.

Your post made me think about my opinions on Henry Jackman's score, I think Jackman's score was good, and I think any MV/RC criticism can be proven wrong by "Mutant and Proud", a great track by itself (cause God knows I wasn't being moved by it by what was happening on screen) and the Mystique theme (specially on the film, since its best iteration is not included on the album), my major criticism of Jackman's score however is the one that you mention, the main theme is generic, and I'm not talking about a great track where the generic repetitiveness actually improves it, like "First Class", I'm talking about what we got to hear on the movie, the numerous statements of the main theme in Cuba are so cringe-worthy it immediately stops being fun and it quickly became a joke. Still I'd gladly take any of the cheesy quotations of that main theme over the main theme from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", talk about complete disconnect from character and theme.

I expect great things from Ottman (always do, even the Fantastic Four movies have a score they don't deserve), but I do hope at least in the past part of DOFP we get to hear his variations of Jackman's First Class, Magneto and Mystique themes (this last one depending on the version of Mystique we're gonna get, if we get something more akin to OT Mystique then I'm all for Ottman's Mystique theme coming back, cause let's face it, that small mischievous theme is one of the cool little complex things about the X2 score we haven't gotten since that movie)

I'd like it if they kept the FC magneto music at the least, it was pretty badass and made scenes quite tense

That amde the white house attack at begining of X2 feel even more epic.

Since climax of DOFP(at least 1973 part) Is probally In Washington DC hope
John Ottman can have a score for that to top attack at begining of X2.

They need to reuse the Magneto themes in this movie. They are too bad ass not to keep.

I don't know why they would re-use it in the first place since FOX always uses new score for their X-Men movies. And I don't think they will.

Back in March Ottman was interviewed by Film Music Media and it seems he wants to expand upon themes he did for X2 in DOFP. But it seems Singer may have had different ideas at the time.

Listen to the interview here (it's very insightful):http://www.filmmusicmedia.com/interv...viewjohnottman

Also, I came across something interesting on the site of The Royalty Network, who are an "independent music publisher and administrator, providing licensing and royalty services worldwide to prolific songwriters, producers and artists".

It seems a very familiar Beyoncé Knowles song will feature in DOFP! Or was it just used a temp track?!

I don't see where a Beyoncé Song would fit in this film at all, let alone any xmen film lol

Seems out of place

no way Bryan would use a Beyonce song in a X-Men movie, at least not that specific track.

Could you imagine this song in the middle of a sentinels sequence with Rogue, Storm, Kitty and Blink?

Many viewers could laugh loudly on the theatre, lol
