Look at this candid pic of Matthew from the set of Interstellar and then tell me that Nolan is not obsessed with ropes:

I don't think you're really getting it, lol.

I think what BatLobster is suggesting is how Bruce had to let go of the rope to climb up the Pit and Blake ended up using a rope and swinging into the Batcave. While Bruce Wayne climbed out(which could also symbolize him climbing out of this darkness as the Batman hence the bats in the Pit as well), Blake is "climbing" into a whole new force(as now being the new Batman).

Talia, the food, the prisoners of the Pit that Bruce handed a rope to after he escaped, who ever you want to think of...there's no relevance to that.

I love Bane's voice

I recently watched a few scenes in French

I'm francophone but I prefer to watch movies in their original language - I think the original voice is part of acting

WTF ????? Bane's voice in French sucks ! it was not Bane-ish at all

He sounded like more a gay aristocrat Bane, if that makes sense to you

I'm reading the script right now and I found a line cut from Alfred's dialogue at the beginning (ignoring the pretty awesome lines in the prologue that got cut and some good ones during the Dent Day Ceremony from the Congressman and some good ones on the rooftop between Blake and Gordon):

You know, I love this movie, but this script is even better. Just little lines and scenes but I feel they improve the film overall. More Miranda, more awesome Bane lines, extended opening speech from Gordon, some good parts in the Dent Day Ceremony, Lucius mentioning a list of gadgets he wants to tempt Bruce with before offering him something to help his leg. I really hope they filmed this stuff and we get it in an extended edition.

What? That's in the movie.

Edit: Oh, you mean the databases one...well, I don't think that's really needed as he does have a super computer as shown in TDK. No need to really mention other databases.

Yeah, just the databases part. I never had a problem with it but it's nice to have a definitive answer for where Alfred got his info from that others on this forum often question.

The bigger issue for me is where they get the name "Bane" from in the first place.

Blake tells Bruce that Gordon was "babbling about an underground army and a masked man called Bane" when he rescued him from the sewer, but no one said Bane's name in the sewer scene, so that line doesn't make sense.

Well in the script, the two mercenaries mention his name, so that scene being taken out makes it a head scratcher, but I suspect since the audience already knows the name from the beginning of the film, we have to just think that Gordon heard his name while he was escorted to him?

I assumed that it's a somewhat recognized name (not like Osama was before his death though but more like lower ranking officials in Al-Qaeda that would be known by the government or those really interested in it but not recognizable names to everyone). He's on the radar of various agencies and I'd assume that Gordon, who has obviously thrown himself into his work and likely has done research on as much as possible to keep his mind of Barbara and the kids, would know of Bane.

Yeah. They had a lot of tunnels to drag him to before getting to Bane, plenty of time for them to have possibly mentioned his name.

What ? Since when cinema started to be a real time representation ?

Off course it happens off-screen. And it makes perfect sense.

You either put it like its on the movie , or you put a scene there where Gordon hears it and then Blake doesnt need to tell that he heard it from Gordon (i can already imagine people questioning how the hell he would know Bane's name if this was the chosen one).

Doing both is completely redundant information.

Banes voice while cool was hard to understand. I mean I can barely understand Hardy without a mask and effects. He can barely speak English. It always sounds like he has a mouthful of spit. Just watch warrior. It's the same problem

I've seen the excuse "it's not a problem, clearly it happened off-screen" used for TDKR more than I have for any other movie. And most (though not all) of the time that's all it is - an excuse.

That particular one is called....storytelling. That's why it was in the script but got cut. It was redundant . If you asked me , i dont even think Blake would have to say that he heard from Gordon. That's implied. But since i read a lot of people confused with the simple timeline of this movie...yeah , its better to spoon-feed a little the audience. But there's a limit.

And its not an excuse. Films don't need to be excused. They solely exist.

Sloppy storytelling.
If it's in the script, chances are it's in there for a reason. If it gets cut due to time constraints, then usually something ends up suffering.

Whoa, that's so deep, man. I'm sorry, but most of the time "Clearly it happened off screen" is an excuse. Not by the film, but by its fans. I'm not watching the film that's off screen, I'm watching the one that's on the screen. A perfect example is Gordon knowing Bane's name even though he didn't hear it at any point on screen. "Clearly, it happened off screen". Well, I don't know that. In the script, it doesn't happen off screen (tight storytelling). In the film, it does (sloppy storytelling).

If something is to happen off screen in tight storytelling, then it has to be set up in advance.
If, for example, those two goons who dragged Gordon through the tunnels were set up as comedic relief characters who always said Bane's name even though they weren't supposed to, then maybe it would have worked.
Or, you know, they could have just kept the "Take him to Bane" line.

No . Sloppy is repeating the same information twice. That's the reason it existed....and got cut .

Your comment about the script is very naive , or just completely misinformed about what is a script . What works on page , sometimes doesn't translate well to the screen or in this case , it's completely unnecessary. It's merely a tool in the process of filmmaking.

And there's nothing deep in my comments . You dont need to worry.

Okay, if it already existed, then where else does Gordon learn Bane's name?
