Haha.. thanks! And don't worry, followers are a good thing That's the point of all the work I put in. Need to get the word about this series spread far and wide and the more followers to help achieve that task the better.

Already trying to come up with ideas to encourage people to "recruit" viewers once things really get moving.

Oh, no, I'm not claiming to be an insider at all. I run the shieldtv.net fan site and we have no official connections with anyone on the show. Some people from the show are following us on twitter (easily verified) but I don't harass them for inside information, if they come to me with info you can bet I'll take advantage of that but I doubt that will happen any time soon! Everything is being kept so super secret. Darn frustrating but at the same time I think that approach kind of works for this show.

I wonder if they're going to do a test screening of the pilot or will they keep it completely secret until the premiere

I expect the first "real" stuff will come out at the ABC upfronts on May 15.

I also think there's a good chance they'll screen the pilot at San Diego Comic Con, there will also be SDCC press meetings (I'll be there with bells on!) so a lot more information will come out then if we're not already flooded by it by then.

As for actually releasing the pilot to test audiences it's hard to say, it'll probably depend how super secretive they decide to be AFTER the upfronts. It's hard to say if they're just keeping everything secret till the series is announced as picked up or if they'll continue the secrecy after that.

Yeah, I know most of this. I was just letting you know what Mr. Dent was talking about.

Yeah, unless they announce it before that's when we'll find out if it's been greenlit or not. I know a lot of times they show a pilot to test audiences and depending on their reactions decide if they want to take it to a full season. Though it appears ABC and Marvel aren't doing this.

So what is our full confirmed cast list for this so far?

Not a fan of J. August Richards, personally.

Cast for the pilot
  • Clark Gregg - Phil Coulson
  • Ming-Na Wen - Melinda May (previously Althea Rice)
  • Iain De Caestecker - Leo Fitz
  • Elizabeth Henstridge - Gemma Simmons
  • Brett Dalton - Grant Ward
  • Chloe Bennet (Chloe Wang) - Skye
  • J August Richards - ?
  • Arlene Santana - Newscaster

The first 6 in the list are announced for the series, we don't know what JAR's role is ... Just the pilot, regular guest or main cast... Time will tell

lol I was just being sarcastic because of the way you phrased those posts...made it sound like you were dropping hints more so than speculation.

I hope the vid promo from the upfronts leaks online shortly after May 14th. I also hope they don't make Joss film a second pilot(he has bad experience with this.)

If there is a second pilot, it means that some of the cast might be changed.

And what second pilot has Whedon had to make before and why?

Fox were unhappy with his original pilot for Firefly, giving him a weekend to write a new pilot or face the show not being picked up. The original pilot then aired halfway through the series' run despite having a lot of the character background/establishment of relationships in it.

The original pilot for Dollhouse wasn't well received by test audiences/the network, so they shot a whole new pilot, reshot elements of the original pilot hoping to turn it into a regular episode but they couldn't. So it was deleted entirely and elements from it turned up later in the season's run.

The last couple years, the networks have been putting them on their websites very shortly after they've been presented at the Upfronts, so I don't even think it will have to "leak."

I hear ya on the 2nd pilot concerns, but those happened in a different era, when the suits weren't sure how audiences would feel about what Joss Whedon was selling. That's really not the case anymore, lol.

On the J. Auguest Richards casting...

My money's on him playing 70's Fury. This way, we get our Fury (albeit in flashbacks) since SLJ is obviously too high profile at this point to be a regular on a TV show.

Bring Slattery on board for the odd Howard Stark appearance. Old Dum Dum ('stache and all) mentoring Young Fury. Possible glimpse of (an undoubtedly precocious) kid Stark.

Ohhh, just think of the possibilities.

No... not as THE central theme of the show.

Assuming Season 1 gives us about 16 hours of SHIELDtime in the here and now (2013 or there about), they just dedicate between 1 and 2 hours, scattered across (say) six episodes, to sing the ballad of a young Fury.

Many, many, MANY shows have used that particular structure. Of those, many have been successful.

I could see some flashback episodes happening, but I don't think that Richards is young Nick Fury. I do believe that he will be playing Cloak, it makes a ton of sense to me.

Deadline has a post up about which pilots have "buzz" in Hollywood. Surprisingly, SHIELD is said to have zero buzz, but only because Marvel & Whedon haven't allowed anyone to see the footage. Yet Deadline says it's "...all but assured a spot on the schedule."

That makes sense. Show seems like it was gonna be a lock from its inception. Hopefully the secrecy is due to beaming confidence.

I think the secrecy is due to it being part of an established world. With other pilots, they're starting from scratch. With this, they're playing in a much larger sandbox. If they have cameos (fingers crossed), they want to keep a lid on that kind of stuff. Not to mention the mystery behind Coulson...

I do recall Jeph Loeb (I think?) mentioning a couple months back that we could probably expect to see something from it a littler earlier than anticipated though, so I don't think they're gonna keep a tight lid on it past Upfronts. I'm betting we'll have an official trailer online by May 15th at the latest.

How about this for using Whiplash in an episode or two of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."?

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Mark Scarlotti is a career criminal and gifted electrical technician who often pairs up with friend and partner-in-crime, Rusty. Though Rusty believes he and Mark are truly friends, Mark actually just uses the gullible and naive Rusty for his expertise in computer hacking and infiltration, which enables the two to rob high-security banks and institutions.

Mark has stepped on a lot of toes in pulling off these large jobs, however. Some of those toes are big. Mafia big. The Maggia crime family want him dead, but want it done discreetly and without getting their hands dirty. The Maggia blackmails Rusty into purposefully blowing one of he and Mark's jobs by threatening to kill a girl Rusty believes to be his girlfriend, but is truly hardly even an acquaintance.

Rusty apprehensively sabotages the job in order to get Mark caught and thrown in jail so that the incarcerated "little toes" he has stepped on will take care of him for the Maggia.

Mark, knowing Rusty betrayed him, breaks out of jail before anyone has a chance to try and take his life...but not before seeing a news broadcast about the incarceration of Justin Hammer and the liquidation of Hammer Industries. Mark has an idea.

Rusty is terrified to hear that Mark is on the loose and is soon even more horrified to see that he has broken into his apartment and is standing in front of him. Mark, however, has no intention of killing Rusty yet. He explains that all is forgiven and he wants to pull off another job with Rusty.

Arriving at a Hammer Industries warehouse, Rusty breaks into the security system and the two enter the large building to find hundreds of large, high-tech storage crates. Rusty begins opening them one-by-one as Mark examines the contents. He is elated to find all manner of high-tech weaponry and is about to use some to slaughter Rusty when he hears his partner exclaim "my god!".

Curious, Mark moves over to the crate that Rusty has opened only to find a proto-type Whiplash suit much like the one Vanko wore at the Monaco racetrack, but more heavily armored. Mark tinkers with it for a moment only to find that it is fully operational. He gleefully dons the suit and cuts off an end of one of the still-locked containers, spilling weapons onto the floor.

Laughing, Rusty muses "I guess you don't need me to break into stuff anymore!"

"Guess not" says Mark, quite simply...as he cuts Rusty in half.
