Default Episode 20: Home Invasion - Rate & Review Thread

Trailer

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Looks like some great action, looking forward to the Diggle and Deadshot showdown and Laurel's comment about knowing the "vigilante" would be there for her will surely widen the rift between Tommy and Ollie.

I am waaaayyyy too excited for my own good.

Also -- I found this fantastic teaser trailer tonight that seems to include a few more scenes from "Home Invasion". It seems a bit spoiler-ish though, so just forewarning!

Yeah I have to agree with The Squirrel, I thought we were done with breaks as well. How come we are on another break?

Amazing episode tonight. Loved the fight between Diggs and Deadshot, Ollie and the hitman. Was not expecting the ending

This one was kinda iffy to me.I didn't really care for the first half very much, but things picked up at the halfway point.I liked Ollie having to make "the choice".That felt like something Stan Lee would've wrote.

I still don't like seeing ollie fight out of costume. It's only done in a misguided attempt at "realism".But there should be some way for Ollie to suit up in the Queen estate. The highlight was Digg's confrontation with Deadshot.I'm hoping that storyline doesn't end with either dying.Deadshot's too good a character to drop.

I like the slow progression with Roy and the Flashbacks were solid.

8/10

After a hiatus, we're in the launch for the final episodes of this season as we see a home invasion literally in both Oliver's mansion and Dinah Laurel's apartment. While Oliver goes after the Hitman, Diggle tries to go after Deadshot as it didn't workout because of Oliver's absence and this causes the two to fallout.

There are a couple of breakups in this one with Oliver/ Diggle and Dinah Laurel/ Tommy with the latter being that Oliver as Green Arrow was the main reason. While this was going on, Roy steals a police radio to track down Green Arrow, who saved his life and now he and Thea will decide to go after him.

Dinah Laurel has done a lot in this episode perhaps than any other, but I'm still hoping for her to move forward towards becoming Black Canary and they've made the first steps of her going back towards Oliver. Another great episode as this gets better and better.

No poll? Well, right now I think an "8" - the island parts mostly bored me, but that's just because I'm not interested in the island. Other than that, it was good.

Tommy is being mostly mature and decent. He's is making all the unselfish decisions here. He's the one that looks like an insensitive clod (especially with the timing), and he does it. He deliberately takes all the blame on himself. For Laurel's sake and for Oliver's (who he is having issues with) and yes, for himself, too, for his own sense of worth and respect. He's like the anti-SmallvilleLex -Lex always said how he wanted to be good but when it came to decision time, he typically made the decision that got him what he wanted, even when he knew it was wrong. Tommy is declining what he wants for the sake of a greater good. Yes, for his own self-respect, too. But he made the suggestion to go to Oliver's, despite the fallout and knowing Laurel's feelings about the vigilante. Her safety was more important. And then he cast himself as the bad guy instead of setting up a scenario to villify Ollie/the vigilante. I don't know if it'll hold, but he's being awesome, IMO. I am not seeing imminent villain-hood for him. To me, he seems to have his priorities in all the right places for the time being. As you can perhaps tell, I really do like Tommy. I did find the "close your eyes" thing a bit cheesy, though.

I guess Moira's going sugar-free didn't take.

We have a firm-ish count on how many the vigilante has killed. With some margin for error for the ones he didn't kill with arrows.

I really, enjoyed Thea's saying she and Roy would find the vigilante together. It was a wonderful "together" moment. I'm not yet invested in Roy, but it was a nice moment. But he means the world to her?! How long have they known each other now?

I totally get why Diggle walked out that door, too. I can understand his anger and resentment. I couldn't really fault Oliver for choosing Laurel in general (that's what love is, and he should choose her if they were actually in a relationship), but, as Diggle said, as far as they knew, the boy was safe. Of course, we know the boy actually wasn't safe, given what eventually happened, but that's a completely separate thing. Nice that Felicity backed him.

Speaking of Felicity - given her tendency to babble, I'm a little surprised she's kept this secret.

This episode was alright... not bad... the Partner left, but how will Diggle be without his little piggle that is the Arrow Man?

Look it's obvious plot set up to have Rory step in and be Speedo.

Gave it an 8.

We had probably our best original villain so far in the series with Mr. Blank, who makes me hope we find out he's connected to some organization like the League of Assassins just so we can see more guys like this.

Deadshot and Diggle have a wonderful feud going now, and it's outstanding that this show can have a recurring villain occupy a subplot in this episodes without confronting the hero. That speaks of well handled world-building and Deadshot remains an entertaining adversary for future episodes.

Tommy remains probably the best acted and written character in the series. The subtext of his having to swallow his pride to go to the Queens' mansion and the look on his face when Olliver leaves clearly demonstrates a guy who obviously cares for Laurel and is aware of his own shortcomings in comparison to Olliver. I too hope that they refrain from taking Tommy down Lex's route from Smallville; they've invested so much time and effort in portraying him as a former bad boy struggling to grow and develop into an honest man, that it would be a shame to see him go dark in a predictable manner. Even his lines about his mom and his obvious protectiveness of her legacy in earlier episodes seem like promising threads for when the Undertaking is revealed.

And I'm curious to see if Thea will start displaying her bow skills soon enough to become Speedy and Roy becomes Arsenal. This show could hav here whole Arrow family in a few years, hopefully encouraging somebody in the movie division to consider giving the Bat-family a chance.

Eh, I kind of hope they don't make Thea speedy. I mean, yeah, she's become more bearable lately, but that could be because her air time has been pretty limited the past few episodes. I'd rather they have her die tragically then have Roy use her nickname to pay homage.

I don't like Roy, so I'd rather he be the one to die, if one of them has to. And traditionally, Roy Harper does. Well, in one continuity, anyway.

I really do like Oliver's family dynamic with both Thea and Moira and would love to see more of that play out. Especially after Oliver finally decides to/is forced to look into his mother's actions more closely. And it would be really, really great if someone would mention Walter again. I get that Oliver and Digg think he's dead, and Oliver never really cared for him anyway. And Moira knows what's happened to him. But Felicity said she was going to try to find out what happened to him and Thea should care.

I thought this episode was alright.

My brain pretty much shuts off whenever something about love triangles happens.

Really good episode, but man did everyone take a hit at some point. Ollie only has Felicity on his side. Tommy is alone now.

I figured it was a matter of time before Shado and Ollie started their own romance story.

And I think Tommy's being awesome. He's keeping Oliver's secret, keeping some of his own pride by not being second-best, and not blaming Oliver or the vigilante or even Laurel, but when he leaves the relationship, but instead letting her put all the blame on him. He's not yelling or raging or being violent or manipulating people. He's just not staying in the unequal relationships with Ollie and Laurel, where he considered the other person more important than they considered him.

Great episode, Ollie really screwed the pooch in not backing up Digg and I felt sorry for Tommy. Everything in this episode felt like the first concentrated push towards Ollie and Laurel getting back together, even the scene with Shado on the island was used towards that purpose.

I liked the Roy and Thea scenes, it's the first episode where his character has interested me.

The island stuff was minimal this week but the ending was a surprise, they seem to be going round in circles with Yao Fei.

The action was top class again, both the main fight scenes were great, it was a shame Ollie killed off that assassin, he was badass and I'd like to have seen him explored further in an episode down the line.

Agreed. In fact, when you look at the dialog between him and Oliver about their mutual attraction to Laurel, Oliver says that Tommy need not worry as he would not go after her because of his vigilante activities, rather than because Tommy is dating her. Implicit is that Oliver WOULD be doing it if not for his vigilante activities, it wouldn't matter if Tommy was dating her, and that he feels Laurel would choose him over Tommy.

Honestly, if my alleged best friend acted like that, my reaction would probably be far worse.

I actually thought Ollie was treading a bit close with his meeting Laurel alone in this ep and trying to after saving Roy. It's not that exes can't be friends, still, it's that I don't think friendship was all he was going for (even if he told himself it was). That said, I like the three of them being friends, and hope it can be salvaged somehow, at least for a while long.

Tommy is one of my favorite characters on the show.I notice I don't mention him in most of my reviews, but as much as I enjoy Ollie,Digg and all that,I find myself rooting for Tommy more than anyone else.He seems like a real nice guy who has gotten his share of bad breaks, but he's trying to make the best of it.That's why it's going to be tough seeing him go over to the Dark Side.(If that's what indeed happens......)

Oh and BTW,I don't expect Digg to be angry for long.Didn't he do the same thing to Ollie in the 2nd Vertigo episode?Ollie was waiting for him,and he ditched him to look for Deadshot.

I can't help but wonder why Deadshot didn't just kill Digg? Was he getting paid to kill all the other FBI (or whatever they were) but not Digg?

I think it's Deadshot's way of insulting/humiliating/messing with Diggle - akin to saying that he has all the power and that Diggle isn't even a threat.
