I hope Karma catches up with the bank. Yeah, I'm sure some good people work there, but oh well, Evil Bank should had thought that out beforehand. Yes, I'm saying I want the bank to go belly up and people lose their jobs.

Nah.. It's not a matter of that bank being punished. This kind of stuff happens every day around us. It's just the way this system works. Here's somethin' related in a way to the subject.

This is senseless waste, but wanting more hungry people out of work for things they had nothing to do with is just as ignorant as anything else.

Yes, well, I let a thing called emotions get in my line of thinking. Granted, didn't stop me from hitting 'send'. Err, submit reply I mean.

This makes me so completely disgusted with our country.

It's shameful that the food was wasted instead of donated to charity, at least. With the eviction notice being in effect in excess of 2 months, it seems like someone from the bank with an ounce of humanity could've pondered for a minute on how this would all play out in the end. Also, I take issue with the globalresearch article headline, which suggests that the police acted as thugs, which I believe is untrue in this case.

this happens all the time at the hospital where I work at,in their cafeteria. they're constantly throwing salads, bags of chips,soda/drinks, and pre-made sandwiches and such away to put "fresher" stuff out. when inquired about maybe giving that food away, since it's still mostly still good, the workers said that they were told by their boss it must be thrown out,and he doesn't want it donated. and there's a Salvation Army/soup kitchen not even 3 minutes down the road.

I work in a supermarket deli and we also throw away loads of salads, sandwiches, roast chicken, meatloaf, fried chicken, soup, etc. I guess that years ago we used to sell the sandwiches at half price at the end of the night but then people waited until the last minute for the low price. So that was the end of that.

I have a relative that works at a grocery store, and he said the same thing, they used to either sell it half off, or give it to the local food bank, but in the last 5 years, it comes to this. The grocery store and other big business get paid to sell their garbage by the pound, and food adds to the poundage, so, they throw away the food to get a profit. They'll go the extra mile by donating two carts full of bakery items like bread and pies, but once those two carts are filled, the people are escorted out of the store and the managers pat themselves on the back at a job well done at being labeled as a business that gives back to the community.

Huh, interesting. That could explain why my store throws away the plastic bags that people return, thinking that they will be recycled. My idiot former store manager once used returned plastic bags to bag another customers groceries. The customer wanted to know why her items were being bagged in a Wal-Mart bag.

I sometimes see dumpster divers when I take out the trash. I'm happy to let them take away the stuff I throw out. The funny thing is, we have a quota of sandwiches that need to be made and ready at all times every day, many of which get thrown away at the end of the day. I'm glad that I bust my ass making those sandwiches, just to have them get thrown away. I'm always glad to see the people going through the trash to get them. At least someone will eat them.

Why didn't the bank just donate the food to a food bank like Feeding America? Thats what Walmart does.(I work at walmart).

Wow, and to think this might be happening in thousands of other places in this country everyday too.

At least in Vegas, the huge buffets, they take all the food and send them to pig farms to be fed to pigs.

Where I work they dumped it... cause they didn't want to be sued if the food wasn't 100%
It apparently happened before.

At St. Louis University, there are many events and conferences held in the meeting spaces in our student center.

Most of these events are catered by the university's kitchens. Tons of food gets thrown away almost everyday.

I work at the security/information desk. We try to keep tabs on what food is being served when. We joke that the free food makes up 30% of our pay. We save as much of it as we can but there is still tons of food going to waste even though the university runs a "Campus Kitchen" charity program that takes food to local seniors and is always looking for donations.

Its kind of a ridiculous situation.
