even for a small cameo she wouldnt be allowed to talk about it anyway

I think it's possible we could see a young Scott or a young Jean, but there is zero chance we'll see an older version of Scott, and Jean's chances probably aren't much better.

As far as Fox is concerned, Cyclops was an impediment to Wolverine and his feelings for Jean. That's why he got shafted in X3. They aren't going to go out of their way to include him this time around.

Keep in mind that there is still lots of time between now and next year. Anything can happen...it's just the matter of when and where.

Famke has been hyping this Wolverine cameo everywhere- it better turn out to be something decent. I'm thinking it's more significant than a cameo if only because it affects Wolverine & the decisions he makes during the film.

Why did you get the impression her role is more important than a cameo?

I think Jean Grey's role in The Wolverine is more than a cameo because I think she'll appear in another scene so her role can't be a cameo anymore. If Jean Grey only has 1 scene in the Wolverine, I don't think they should have included it in the trailers.

thats what I keep saying...if her cameo is just a cameo as it is, then why did they have to include it into the trailers? No one knew about the wolverine cameo and it never was included in any of the FC trailers...and all he did was sit around at some joint, smoking a cigar. lol.

So I am beginning to feel that her cameo is more than just a cameo...and according to IMDB.com, Famke is listed in second after Hugh in the cast list.

Because they have to promote the film!

It's Hugh Jackman, and a bunch of mostly unknown actors to a general audience, starring in the film. Famke is recongnisable, plays an iconic character and has a much higher profile these days off the back of 'Taken' and 'Hansel and Gretel'. Of course they're going to promote that.

Look at cyclops role in x3 it was small and felt more like a cameo and yet it featured in the trailers also

I remember Singer saying something along the lines of "Thank you Brett Ratner for letting them live" when announcing that Ashmore, Page and Paquin are back. This leads me to believe that he's not really planning on bringing back those who died in X3.

Singer doesn't sound like he liked X3 but there was stuff he liked like kitty and stuff

And he has said he understands the want to bring back cyclops and jean, so who knows

yes, they definitely wanted to add a recognizable face to the marketing.

But it sounds as if Jean's presence may not be a physical one in the movie, but her death haunts Wolverine and may cause him to take certain actions in the film. In that respect, it is more important than a cameo because it influences the main character. But I still only expect her to be on screen for one scene, maybe two, plus references like the photograph of Jean Grey that Wolverine carries with (that is seen in the trailer).

I think he sees Jean in his dreams.

Also, in the new X-Men movie: I think it is still possible for at least Scott to have a cameo, since they are bringing back Rogue, who is no longer a mutant, according to X3 and old Erik.

Jean's return would be harder to pull off because she died in X2, so even if they undo X3, she's still in Alkali Lake... unless they do the comic book version, where Dark Phoenix was not the real Jean, and she's still in a telekinetic coccoon in the lake...

The cure from X3 was hinted to be temporary judging by the final scene so that's why Rogue and Magneto are back.

And if this film does end with the horrible apocalyptic timeline averted, the entire series' timeline could change, so a return for Jean is pretty easy. She just didn't die in the new timeline, for example.

see what i have to question is why would singer change everything so none of his films ever happened, infact why would anyone do that to their films

X3 wasn't his but X1 and 2 wouldn't ever of happened... let alone the wolverine whats about to come out this year... i dunno... i suspect there will be something more to it

its incredibly risky to do such a thing to films like X2 that many like

Because X3 and Origins pretty much ruined the entire universe.

but to fix the franchise he would have to throw away his own films, I dunno I think there might be something more to it personally

Well, realistically, you can see X1-DOFP as one huge arc, then DOFP acting as a new beginning.

There will be changes, people being alive who died in the original timeline, but that doesn't mean that the events we saw can't still have happened, more or less, with a few tiny changes.

In a roundabout way, by doing it like this, the events of X1 onwards are still important/canon because, without them, we wouldn't get this 'better world' with a few changes.

Famke and Dougray Scott keep doing interviews with each other for their new show and hinting at their past on X-men (Dougray was originally cast as Wolverine but had to be replaced because his shooting on Mission Impossible 2 went overtime).

I want someone to finally ask about it...but they never directly talk about X-men. It's a bad memory losing out on a star-making role I guess!

recently I saw an article about actors that were going to play iconic roles but finally didnt and saw this one, same with Jim C. as Cyclops.

And after seeing some pics of Dogray I came to the conclussion that he would have been a better Wolverine, closer to the comics. less tall, and less handsome.

But Hugh cant be happier about it, tho

I would have loved to see Dogray's version, but anyway, lets see what happens with this character in the next decades

No way. I'll take Jackman any day, over Dougray Scott.

most people say they cant see other actors playing Wolverine, but thats just because they have only seen Jackman playing him.

But Im sure other actors would do an awesome job while being closer to comics Wolverine.

So, one day, I guess. Im not a fan of the character, so I dont feel the need to it. But will be really interesting to see next version on next decade or later, hehe.

It's not that I can't see another actor playing Wolverine. It's that Dougray Scott isn't an improvement, in my opinion.

People keep saying that all the time, like it's something better. Why does something need to be closer to its comics counterpart? Comics are not always perfect in every way, shape or form. They have their flaws too. I'd hate to see 100% accurate interpretations of everything. And it's not like Wolverine is far off the comics.
