My full New Who season ranking would probably be (from worst to best) 2, 1, 3, 4, 7, 6, 5.

Season/series 2 is my least favorite by a country mile. I only like a couple of stories from the first half, and none of them are The Girl in the Fireplace. Most overrated story this side of Caves of Androzani.

Seasons 1 and 3 have some amazing gems mixed with some of the biggest piles since the show's relaunch.

4 and 7 are both incredibly consistent in terms of quality. The worst episodes of these seasons are still good (except for Journey's End), and the best episodes are really good (though probably not classics). We'll see how 7 stacks up completely in a few weeks, though.

6 and 5 kept me constantly intrigued with the best constructed multi-episode arc and a few instant classic episodes. There are only 2 episodes in these two seasons I'm not too keen on (Victory of the Daleks and Curse of the Black Spot), and that's because I'm not a big fan of the Daleks and the latter is one of those stories where knowing the twist makes it less enjoyable the second time.

"Night Terrors" was such a waste. You could practically skip that episode.

I love all of the Second Doctor Easter Eggs they have installed this season.

If I had to rank the Davies era seasons, it would be:

4, 2, 3, 1.

I will post detailed write-up after class.

Rating the entire series:

5>3>6>2>1>7(so far)>4>Specials

5 is the absolute best the show has been since it's come back, Smith's fantastic performance was certainly a big deal (and is still consistently great) but there were so many fantastic moments and stuff that still rings in my mind not to mention the whole Pandorica ending was pretty damn cool and inventive while still largely making sense. It also still had some great teases for the future that made you feel like whatever Moffat was planning was going to culminate in something really amazing.

As for 3 Martha's not my favorite companion but it was probably the height of consistent quality in the RTD era, you had some downers like the Daleks in Manhattan and the last part of the Master trilogy but otherwise I remember the season largely being good otherwise with some standouts.

6 and 2 have problems but they also have fantastic episodes like The Doctor's Wife, The Girl who Waited and The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. 2's got a couple of real stinkers and 6 just reveals Moffat really doesn't have any clue where the overarching story is going.

1's rough in a lot of spots but its also got a lot of stuff I do like.

The only seasons I actively dislike in that bunch are 7,4 and the Specials. What's consistent between all three for me is they have a feeling of being both half baked and overproduced. Respective low points: 7 has the leaf, 4 has the height of Jesus Doctor hypocrisy and the Specials perform a brutal character assassination of the Time Lords.

So I recently got into the show and I'm completely caught up now after about two months. I was thinking about what my favorite stories from each season might be. This is what I came up with.

Season 1-The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
Season 2-The Girl in the Fireplace(Close second is Doomsday)
Season 3-Human Nature/Family of Blood(Really close second is Blink)
Season 4-Really enjoyed multiple episodes as Donna is my favorite companion. If I had to pick, Unicorn and The Wasp
Season 5-Great season. It be a tie between Vincent and The Doctor and Amy's Choice.
Season 6-The Doctor's Wife was excellent.

So far in season 7 I'd have to say my favorite is Angels take Manhattan.

Very glad to see that Tennant is in his Brown outfit and not the Blue One

If only Smith broke out the brown tweed jacket for this, though...

The title of the series finale has been revealed and is the hugely intriguing: The Name of the Doctor.

The ‘poster’ for the series’ final adventure (above) was unveiled today and it also confirms that Alex Kingston is back, joining Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman for what promises to be a jaw-dropping end to a spectacular series.

But we’re not there, yet! We’ve still to unravel the mystery of Clara – the woman ‘twice killed’ and yet still by the Doctor’s side… What secrets does she hold? And in the weeks ahead we’ve a trip to a haunted house, a journey to the centre of the TARDIS and a nightmare clash with the mighty Cybermen. But after all those adventures we have The Name of the Doctor and stand by for something that you might always have believed to be impossible…

You can see all the posters for the final four episodes of the series in our latest gallery and Doctor Who continues tomorrow at 6.45pm on BBC One with Hide.
The synopsis for the finale is:

Quote:
“Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him towards the one place in all of time and space that he should never go.”

I'm glad they've done something to sort of get him back. I kinda hope this whole "he's not gonna come back" is part of Moffat's lies.

BTW would people mind if the guys from the "Doc"umentary () play the 1st and 2nd Doctor in the 50th special?
