I've had a wii all this time but I never knew about them.

Is Pandora's Tower supposed to be good?

I just watched the latest Bonus Round, and Jeff Gerstmann made a really excellent point about competition for the Wii U that I have never considered, and I have to wonder if even Nintendo had thought of it.

So, this holiday season Nintendo is going to be facing tremendous competition from the top with PS4 and most likely Durango as well. However, we're seven years into the current generation and the 360 and PS3 still haven't fallen below $200, which everyone knows is where the real mainstream money is made. What happens to the Wii U when Microsoft and Sony finally play that card and drastically undercut the Wii U with consoles of equal power and immensely better libraries? Man, I could totally see that cutting the Wii U's legs right out from underneath it. :/

The Wii U will have a fighting chance if they just release some ****ing games. It's outrageous.

Unfortunately, the Wii U seems like the Titanic right now & is sinking rapidly.

The very best thing they could do is to put out some of their heavy hitters before the holiday season, before Sony and Microsoft steal everyone's attention, but that's not going to happen.

The next best thing they could do is have their big games ready to go head to head with PS4 and Durango, but I have serious doubts about that. What do they have ready for the end of the year? Wind Waker HD, and that's pretty much it.

They're really in a bad situation.

I just hope there's some stuff that Nintendo is not telling us. Maybe they'll announce some huge holiday releases at E3. If they don't, the Wii U may get it's ass kicked.

I hope so too, but I'm really not seeing it. Zelda is definitely out of the picture with Wind Waker HD coming. The new 3D Mario is going to be formally announced at E3, but that doesn't leave a whole lot of time to get it out by the end of the year. Nintendo has only promised a screenshot of Smash Bros. for E3. Mario Kart, though, is a definite candidate for a holiday game.

I'm so desperate for games that if all they release is Wind Waker HD and maybe Mario Kart I'd be happy. It wouldn't be great for Nintendo's business to just release those two, however.

Any of you guys getting Pokemon Rumble for the Wii U? The game is going to utilize figures in the same way Sky Landers does.

They need a proper next gen Zelda. That should have been planned for within the 1st year of the console's release. Thought they'd know by now how important that would be.

I agree. A new HD next-gen Zelda game at launch, or damn close to launch would have been great for the Wii U and probably would have saved it from this slump.

I don't know if Zelda would have been the best idea, they just put out a new one.

While I think a new Mario or Zelda should come relatively soon after a new console for Nintendo, I don't know if at launch is necessary. The most hardcore Nintendo fans will buy the console no matter what, however I still think it's a good idea to give them some kind of big game like Pikmin or Mario Kart. And then you can have Mario or Zelda ready to go six months to a year after that to keep the less hardcore Nintendo fans interested.

The Zelda is for everyone else like me, the lost fans of Nintendo.

That's the game that can push a console purchase on someone who prefers the Sony/Xbox consoles & that style of gaming.

I would question whether people waiting for the 360 to PS3 to hit $150-$200 (I doubt either will be less than $150) are even considering the WiiU in the first place.

I think Soapy has a good point but in support of yours, many of those interested in a wii U within the 1st year or 2 of launch will have enough interest in gaming (unlike the wii which attracted many who had no real interest in gaming in general) that they would likely already have bought either a 360 or PS3 with those consoles having been out 8 years or so (assuming they still work ). And if they're Nintendo only guys then the price of the other consoles doesn't matter too much.

I guess it might be different in the case of parents choosing consoles for younger kids and the 3 might compete on that front.

The 360 and PS3 were counted out their first year, so I'm not worried as of yet. If we get an actual new Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. that aren't rehashes of previous versions, the ****ing thing will sell like hotcakes, if hotcakes actually sold that well.

So I finally used the web browser on the Wii U. It's actually pretty good. I haven't had any hiccups yet and I can watch videos on IGN without any problems at all.

You will never see a next gen Zelda at launch. The game takes years to develop.

And before anyone mentions Twilight Princess, it was a Gamecube game that got ported to the Wii.

2 years enough? Start a year early and get it out 1 year after launch or at least soon after that. Otherwise there might not even be that many more launches.

I don't personally expect to buy a wii U before the next gen Zelda is out. These games that I've not played before like Monster Hunter sound interesting but I need one fully guaranteed & modern gaming experience before I start delving into new territory. And Mario games are a great support to the console but I'm quite happy with older gen Mario and not going to upgrade for those alone. A Starfox might get me interested though.
