I don't know. You know negative man's going straight for Magneto out of the gate and I can't see a defense against that.

I'll need to think on it some more.

I'm remembering Magneto from when he 1st appeared during the eeeeearly X-Men days, like 1960s X-Men. That's the Magneto these guys are up against.

I'm not absolutely certain Quicksilver is the fastest one there with Larry in this...

Yeah, I'm going to go with the Doom Patrol.

The old brotherhood has no answer to Larry Trainor. Magneto might have time to crush Cliff's brain, maybe, before Larry takes him out. Garth can protect his body from Quicksilver for that sting and then he becomes Larry's next target since he's the only one who could match him for speed.

I can see this battle going down multiple ways but I can't give Doom Patrol the edge in any of them!

The chief is all but useless unless there is prep time for him to make a plan and even then with Mastermind messing with everyones head and the unpredictable Scarlet Witch plans are useless against this team, adaptation is what usually beat them. Robot Man is in the same boat against Magneto. Magneto's failings in the early X-men comics were as team leader. His powers were always well developed because he goes back as far as Xavier. He was already very experienced individually in his first appearance. Lets not forget that mastermind can mess with all of their heads at the same time giving his team the edge in what ever scenario or pairings you come up with.

Magneto was powerful enough even back then to one-shot the Hulk and Negative Man was subject to being interfered with. I seem to recall him being "jammed" or something. It has been to long to recall accurately but I vaguely recall a scene where Negative Man was frozen in place unable to act or return to Larry. There is also the time limit for him to return which was 1 minute IIRC. In any case Magneto's shields have withstood just about everything. In fact I don't recall any case where they have ever been breached. His magnetic force bolts have taken out the entire Defenders team at once. I believe that was before any of his amps but I am not sure.

Mastermind is the key here, the most unobtrusive guy there that can deal massive damage with his illusions before the rest of the team even realizes what's going on. Magneto is going to drop the fracking hammer and repeatedly, during that period he was just relentless and brutal, as the Hulk found out. Close? Sure. In the end though?

Garth in animal form probably has the senses to penetrate Mastermind's illusions if he thinks of it. But he is still young then and inexperienced. Even if he can penetrate Mastermind's illusions though it won't be enough.

Yeah, but the Chief is smart enough to figure out that Mastermind is doing some mind voodoo, and would therefore instruct Garth to sniff him out.

Yes but how many of their team fall before he figures it out? Mastermind will notice who's broken free and that man or beast will be at the top of the Hit List. Hell, one of his own team may end up doing the deed with him wearing Magneto's face.

Besides, how long is the cripple going to last amidst a battle field with Magneto and Scarlet Witch involved? He's the least able to defend himself and there's quite a bit of metal in that chair.....
