And no. it being Superman makes no difference either, Lex Luthor not being a physical threat in SR wasn't what made SR a disappointing film devoid of action.
 Agree with every word.

I think it does show that what the fans want is more fights though. So I guess that's something.

I think as long as we all love the interpretation of the characters in MOS, we're off and running for the sequel really. I'll just want to see the progression of them.

^ The solution to this problem is have powerful henchmen, like Jaws is in the Bond movies. Only from comics, like Metallo.

In regards to whether this film was shot in IMAX or not, the BFI Imax is saying the film will be shown in 15/70 film print format. Any idea what this means? Will it be proper Imax or what people call Lie-max instead?

That is as repetitive as it gets. It doesn't matter that they are different armies, the fact that they are armies is what is repetitive. It's the same fight dynamic every time. There are far more creative ways to structure the conflicts. Wouldn't it be more interesting and exciting to have different climax fights that challenge Superman in different ways? Eg. One film is one on one grudge match, another is Superman dealing with a superpowered enemy that drains his powers, another is Superman dealing with a gigantic alien monster, and then you can have Brainiac's army and it feels special. I'm not saying we should have a film without a superpowered villain or a climax without a CGI-filled brawl for the masses, I'm just say they should mix up the format/situation of the fight.

Thats exactly wht Im suggesting.A fight with a group of mindless Robots will not be the same as a fight with with intelligent Metahumans or the same as one with fight with Aline monsters.Theres your variety.

I asked the same thing recently, apparently cameras that looked suspiciously like IMAX cameras were seen on set. Not that I've seen any set photos that support it or anything, but it wouldn't surprise me

I remember reading that Snyder said they shot it with "anamorphic" cameras.
Here are the tech specs from imdb:
Camera
Arriflex 235, Panavision C- and E-Series Lenses
Arriflex 435 ES, Panavision C- and E-Series Lenses
Panavision Panaflex Millennium XL2, Panavision C- and E-Series Lenses

I do wish they had shot in IMAX.

I don't think this is the regular "LieMAX" that people talk about. That's when a movie like TDK or TDKR is actually shot in IMAX and screened digitally instead of off of actual IMAX reels. If I'm not mistaken.
A lot of films have been shot regularly and blown up on IMAX prints. That's what's happening with MoS.

I just re-read Superman Eradication and have ordered the 3 issues where Eradictor returns as an energy being (yet to read them so pls don't spoil it for me) and I have to say I'm really warming to the idea of the Eradicator as the villain in a future film.

I assumed that with the increased market penetration of Digital IMAX, the practice of transferring 35mm (celluloid) to 70mm IMAX (celluloid) had been abandoned. But maybe itís still done for certain venues.

BFI imax is awesome, i wish i could go there more often to watch films, but I guess STID fufills that quota for the year, sorry MoS, regular theater with you.

This mean that it's a proper 70mm print for IMAX. Just look at this comparison chart, it will give you an idea of what it is required for a true IMAX:

Snyder filmed MOS in 35mm (and I think that some scenes were shot with IMAX cameras), so for IMAX like BFI Waterloo, they need to transfer the print to 70mm. Though I haven't been back to BFI Waterloo for a while, I think that they recently upgraded it last year to digital.

Just saw Snyder compare the Smallville battle to a "Western face-off" on Empire online. The site also says it's the first major conflict in the movie.

15/70 IMAX for STID makes sense because it had scenes (like TDK and TDKR) that were actually filmed in 15/70 IMAX. Thatís not the case for MOS (as far as I know).

How do people want Lex handled? Should he be well known at the start of the film? Should Clark know who he is? Or should it be more of a Joker-card scenario?

Well we know Lexcorp already exists in MoS.

I think Lex should be a well known self-made billionaire and inventor businessman with political ambitions.

I don't think he should actually show up until the sequel though. Clark/Supes should of heard of him but never net him.

works!

Thanks!
Snyder also says...according to this:

"We didn't design the movie like Batman as a trilogy but I don't think anybody would say you design a Superman movie as a one-off."

Of course not. And puh-lease they wanna seem like they're filmmakers that are nonchalant about making sequels and sagas but look at it! Batman Begins, tease for the sequel. TDK ending, huge cliffhanger for the sequel. TDKR, psuedo fake out ending with tease of the future for Blake. They're fanboys like the rest of us but don't want their reputations as serious filmmakers tarnished by admitting they're deep in the saga building.
