There's no doubt that one day Batman will be rebooted. However, I absolutely feel now, meaning anytime within the next ten years, just isn't the right time. Look at The Amazing Spider-Man. Sure it made good money, but is it really setting the cinema world on fire by comparison of it's predecessor. Batman Begins took a quiter approach as well but strong word of mouth launched massive hype for it's sequel with TDK. The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's like nobody even cares sadly. WB should be looking at this. With Bale all they need is a couple more performances out of him for a World's Finest and a couple of Justice League movies. He could easily play this role until he's 50.

No. Bruce simply left him access to the tools and said "If you're working alone, wear a mask." He didn't exactly say wear my mask! He also repaired the Bat-Signal letting Gordon know he was still alive. One could argue that might be Bruce's way of telling Gordon if he ever needs him again....he's still out there. I'm not sure I exactly buy into the idea that Bruce would've repaired the Bat-Signal based on a hunch that Blake was going to become the next Batman. At the end of the day the Nolanverse Bruce Wayne was someone who operated as Batman based on the need for that persona. As long as there's something that requires his attention he can always comeback. Lex Luthor gaining control of Wayne Enterprises allowing Applied Sciences to fall into the wrong hands could be enough to lure him back.
Great point man. I never really thought of it that way.

I think sometimes we need to erase Nolans comments about the movie. If you look at the movie in some isolated view, and interpret it yourself and erase everything Nolan said his intentions for the character, then maybe Bruce isn't finished.

Just because Nolan viewed it as an ending doesn't mean it's true. With all forms of art, nobody is really right, not even the creator, it's up to the individuals interpretation.

That ending could mean that Bruce has left the city with a lot on his mind. He could view Gotham as going through a rebuilding period and it may be at peace for a little while. Bruce himself gets to leave Gotham and he may never return..if Blake takes up Bruce's offer (which he couldn't know for sure) then he could get the keys to the cave and watch over the city incase something arises during Bruce's peacetime. Blake didn't seem eager to wear a mask even though Bruce suggested it, so Blake could be watching over the city by using the tech or by going out as Robin/Nightwing.

Bruce sets up the bat signal and it's not just to give Gordon a sign. Is it there for Blake? Im not so sure anymore. How does he know Blake's going to be there to do the job? Does he give it to Gordon so Jim can turn it on every night, so Gothams people can be inspired forever? While reminding criminals to fear the Batman, because they never know if he's supernatural or what....

OR is it there incase Gotham needs Bruce back? For all we know Bruce is taking a break from Gotham to heal and be happy with Selina but has some intention on returning if Blake isn't up for it and the city needs him.

We just don't know.

Yeah what is more hyped up right now DOFP or ASM2? Avengers 2? Amazing Spider-Man 2 likely falls at the bottom of the hype list. And as huge as Raimi's Spider-Man movies were, they weren't as huge as TDK movies.

K tech changes things.

Bruce gets a suit somehow that aids his physical problems.

Anarky brings Gotham back to chaos. Blake, who is not Batman, needs serious help.
Bruce as Batman comes back. Beautiful

Not to sound corny or anything, but that one little scene with Gordon looking around to the sky smiling ear to ear once he see the symbol has been repaired, always leaves me misty eyed. It's like he's so overcome with joy to know that Bruce is alive.

And we know that Blake wouldn't have had the money to fix it either.

We've had 4 different Batman actors on film. The concept of another actor taking the role of Batman isn't a new one. They don't even have to go back to the origin to reboot Batman.. Batman '89 didn't have an origin.

Here's another Goyer quote I found interesting:

Of course, the big question we really wanted to ask couldn’t be answered, though you can take the fact that he couldn’t answer it as an interesting evasion: was there ever any talk from the studio that John Blake, the character Joseph Gordon-Levitt played in the Goyer co-written Dark Knight Rises, might appear in the Justice League movie?

“I can absolutely not answer that question,” Goyer said, adding, “Sorry.”

If it were a no would he not just say "No the story is 100% done and we are starting 100% from scratch" But he did not. So

I'd take John Blake as Batman but I know I'm in the minority on that.

The goyer response could mean that they were in talks back then. It was in January. Or that the universe is connected so he couldn't talk about it. It's one or the other. It doesn't necessarily mean that JGL will be in it though.
