Default I think enough time has passed now..I can honestly say..

After watching the trilogy recently I can honestly say I was left wanting more. Story be damned even after TDKR it still feels as if the series was just getting truly underway. Perhaps it has to do with the continual introduction of vehicles and equipment to the series... all things considered I would want more batman films within this established universe.

I do realize we are living in a Batman rich environment with the recent films, the quality of the comics and the arkham games..hell even the Timm-verse is getting replay due to us older fans passing down the show to our kids...

I enjoyed the trilogy the way it is and anything else, beside TDKR being a two-parter, would had stained the idea of Nolan wanting to make a beginning, middle and end. At least if TDKR received two parts, it would essentially be the end, much like the two-parter for Harry Potter.

I mean, of course I would love to see what happens when Robin John Blake puts on the cape and cowl himself, but this trilogy was focused on Bruce Wayne and how he created a symbol: The Batman.

...And that's a good thing. Hell, I wish Nolan would do either a story between TDK and TDKR, with Batman being hunted while taking down the remnants of the mob with Cobblepot and Black Mask until the Dent Act officially comes into play; making him irrelevant, or a film post TDKR with Blake being the new Batman or Nightwing. But that's because I love the hell out of Nolan's interpretation.

In one way I'm glad Nolan is finished with Batman on film, because Nolan/Bale and Co. were able to go out on top. Yet I'm kinda sad it's all over, because I loved pretty much everything involved with these films - from the actors, to the soundtracks by Zimmer, to seeing a full on journey for Bruce/Batman, to the stories drawn from the comics, to specific villains and supporting characters used, and just the fact that I finally got my Batman on film. But all good things have to come to an end.

Does 'beginning, middle, end' really necessitate it only be 3 movies? I'm not sure of that.

This might sound crazy to some, but there's about to be a third Star Wars trilogy. Beginning = 3 movies, Middle, = 3 movies, End = 3 movies.

If this sort of thing were done with someone like Nolan as opposed to George Lucas, imagine the possibilities.

It doesn't even have to be three trilogies. It could be 3 sets of 2, so six movies.

A bit pointless to dream now, but there was just so much potential left untapped, and now we'll never see Nolan tap it.

I still believe Bale will be back for JL. Call it a dream but until a new Batman (actor and everything) is announced for his own set of movies and the JL film, im still of the belief that Bale/Nolan will return.

A Nightwing spin-off could be cool, so would a Catwoman film with Anne. But I would love to see Bruce leave Gotham and his pain behind, leaving the protection of the city to Blake, while he unselfishly aids Superman & the rest on the other side of the planet in saving Earth. Creating a League of his own as an answer to the League of Shadows. A league of pure justice.

Bale's only 39 and he said he'd come back if there was a story to tell...look at Downey and Daniel Craig. Theyre mid to late 40s currently.

Bale's Batman can still return and it doesn't spit all over the trilogy.

So yeah a huge part of me wants more from this Batman.

I see what you mean, but I'm thinking of a classic one off trilogy, with a beginning, middle, and end.

I would have loved the balloon to expand for another set of films with Nolan and Bale, but after awhile these actors, directors, and pretty much everyone else involved eventually get fatigued from playing these characters and inhabiting these worlds after so long. Look at RDJ, he's possibly considering calling it quits from what I have heard.

And maybe it's the cynic in me, but when these "epic stories" go past 3 or 4 films, it's pretty much a cash grab at that point. But that's another discussion entirely.

You're looking at a beginning of three films that came out decades after the middle with Star Wars, though. I felt like the original trilogy was perfect but Lucas wanted to milk the product and that gave us a pathetic beginning and who knows how the "end" could be, and yet, can we even say the "end" will be just that? A trilogy to end some saga?

I seriously doubt Disney forked over all that cash only to make 3 movies out of it. They are going to milk it until it runs dry. I expect Disney to pump out a new Star Wars movie every 3-5 years in perpetuity, like what we've seen for the last 50 years with James Bond.

As far as Nolan's Batman story is concerned, I am glad it's over. There have been plenty of great Batman stories in the past. Nolan's was one of them. I am curious to see what someone else will come up with for the cinematic version of Batman. But I am also curious to see what Nolan comes up with in terms of Interstellar and other more original properties than a 75 year old comic book character.
