Every film needs a badass glamrocker elf. This is an opportunity missed.

I sincerely hope when they do the reboot, they get people on it who are serious about doing the character right. It's like the people on the first film tried to make an amalgamation of Norman Osborne and Doom, and it totally failed.

I think the way Magneto and Loki were written with subtlety and multiple layers of complexity, are exactly what are needed for Doom.

At one time the FF movies were a bit of a guilty pleasure, because I loved those books as a kid, but now I can't watch them at all, after all the Marvel Studio films came out, and are light years better.
Yes, I don't blame the actor either as the character was written terribly on all accounts. Both his character and dialogue, as well as the overall concept of him and his powers.

I'm still holding out that we at least see a little magic battle between Loki and Malefic while Thor takes on Kurze. The Doctor versus Loki would be epic.

So why do you think they blackened the wrong side of his face?

I love the design personally, he looks menacing but kind of tragic as well.

I want to know why Malekith had those little dots on his face in the set photos. Seems like they could have achieved everything with straight prosthetics, judging by how he looks now.

I honestly don't care about Malekith not having long hair, because he looks more menacing this way.

His eyes, and the texture around them. That's what they were for

That looks like a perfect combination of prosthetics and CGI, which is probably the best way to go about things like this.

This probably has been talked about and theorized on, so I apologize in advance. Do you guys think the consequence of Odin summoning dark energy is related to the arrival of Malekith and the Dark Elves?

That's a very reasonable theory and yes a few posters have been wondering the same thing.

Does anyone have a theory about how Odin is using dark magic and if he can do that actually? Does he need someone to cast that kind of magic, or would he be able to do it himself? Has there been a time in the comics somewhere when he is doing this?

LOL, in a new Total Film article, Eccleston apparently says that good scripts are "paramount" in his selection process for movie roles.

Come on now, Chris. There is NO WAY IN HELL you looked at the script for G.I. Joe and thought, "Oh my! What an amazing story full of complex characters! I must take this part!"

Just admit that sometimes, a paycheck is a paycheck.
I know this is an old post so I hope you don't mind if I respond to it.

Eccleston seems to be one of those actors who usually prefers to do off beat indie roles over mainstream big budget and tries to choose things that challenge or interest him personally but every so often when he hasn't worked for a while he plays a movie villain for the money. And he generally gives good villain, even if the script isn't the best, he makes the most of his role. Now for TDW I hope it wasn't desperation to do something that made him accept. It's got a great cast and good director and the script seems like its upping the ante from Thor. And the can't mangle it worse than they mangled "The Dark is Rising" into "The Seeker".

It looks like they enhanced his eyes to make them look proportionally bigger, along with the CG contacts.

^ I was thinking the same thing, maybe this scene happens at the beginning of the film.

Either that or he gets his face healed in some point in the film, but I'm leaning towards the former.
