More like . . . a partner . . . in the bedroom .

It's not about love though. For Black Widow, love is for children .

So, Scarlett has a new Black Widow look in this movie. What do we think?

I saw this little comment too:

Quote:
Another major development with the project is the inclusion of Black Widow, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent played by Scarlett Johansson in both Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. In her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe she hasn't had a great deal of experience working with Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America (Chris Evans), but reading the writers' ideas about how their personalities will somewhat clash is quite interesting, particularly in her modernity and his old school ways.

"[Black Widow is] a great—both in attitude and in profession—a great contrast to Steve Rogers," Markus told the site. "She’s incredibly modern, not very reverent, and just very straightforward whereas Steve is, you know a man from the 40s. He’s not a boy scout, but he is reserved and has a moral center, whereas her moral center moves."

Interesting.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Sharon gets her iconic white jumpsuit (yes, Marvel Studios, she should), I think you could set up a nice love triangle there, or at least let Tasha and Sharon play the "angel" and "devil" sitting on either of his shoulders.

That's a nice way of putting things. I can see Natasha getting on with Rogers in her own way, but still coming off as an outsider of sorts. Thus Sharon gets the main 'Captain America girl' billing.

So the women are only there as love interests.

for the most part in these movies yes.. almost every movie has a love story whether that be a male or female lead, these movies are male leads so it makes sense to have a female love interest, when Ms. Marvel gets her own movie then we'll have the woman kicking ass and the man being the love interest.. why does that irk you so much Hawk?

It's not like Agent 13 or Widow aren't going to get their action scenes in, but in the end some woman has to be a love interest.

Okay, *where* did I say that...?

Widow and Sharon can show an interest in Steve, requited or not, and *still* be ass-kicking secret agents in the meantime.

She better be using more than guns and that lame taser widow's bite. In IM2, she was using all types of cool little gadgets.

Ugh, you didn't. But you've got to admit it'd be a bit disheartening if the two main female characters were both love interests to Steve. Besides, it's always Bucky x Natasha .
And I totally agree Cosmic. I want Widow to go all out on action scenes in this film.

Here's the way I'd play it:

Make Sharon an old-fashioned good girl. She likes most of the stuff Steve does --- the 40s era music, movies, cars, fashions, etc. She volunteers to join up with Cap's crew out of a Coulson-like hero worship; but in Sharon's case, it's more personal, because she's grown up with Peggy telling her stories about the man, and she feels she already knows him.

Tasha, by contrast, is the 21st century girl. She's all modern music and styles and attitudes. Tasha and Steve often clash, usually humorously, over the worlds they grew up in.

Late in the movie, during "downtime," Sharon reveals her true feelings for Cap, and he, of course, realizes he's falling in love with her, too. Obligatory kiss, of course; then Steve needs some time alone to think things through. He's alone in his apartment when there's a knock at the door. Natasha looks sexier than usual, but she's here to talk shop and clear up some things about the mission. Things start getting hot and heavy, and she makes a pass at Steve...

And now Steve has to make a choice.

Of course, it's pretty clear who he'll ultimately choose; and Widow isn't going to be entirely heartbroken, because she knows that they come from two different worlds, literally; and that Sharon is right for Steve. But the movie can end with her making eyes at Bucky....

Yeah, it's all that mushy stuff that action movie fans hate; but it's the classic love triangle that creates the drama and romance that almost every movie really needs. I think it would work great.

I really just want Cap and Widow to be friends and that's it. What you're describing is a Romcom.

Don't think this will happen, but what if:

Natasha and Steve are the love interest/aspect of the movie. I seem to remember Marvel doing that in that Ultimate Avengers animated movie (though I haven't seen it in years, so I may be mis-remembering). And what if Agent 13 turns out to be Carol Danvers? Emily Van Camp could certainly pull it off and, if it's a small part here, it could lead to bigger things in The Avengers 2. Always thought the Peggy/Sharon/Steve dynamic was a little weird anyway. Though I'm sure that's how they'll go with it.

Just throwing a thought out there. I think Emily would actually make a great Capt/Ms Marvel and the difficult romance between Steve and Natasha (old fashioned man/modern woman) would be more intriguing than Cap falling for his past lover's granddaughter (or whatever Sharon's relation is to Peggy).

I don't know. Just an idea.

Personally, I would love it if Steve & Natasha became a couple because I think that the stark contrast in their personalities and beliefs would provide a tremendous amount of drama. Not to mention the fact that Chris and Scarlett have a great on screen chemistry already. Then in TA2 Joss could take them and blow their relationship to hell, which would be fun to watch.

Oh man can't believe this many people are okay with Steve/Natasha. I think that Agent 13 NEEDS to be Sharon. Also I thought the only reason they brought Natasha into this movie was because of her Winter Soldier connections. I really don't want to see a love triangle since it seems like they're going that way for Thor:TDW and possibly Iron Man 3, it's a little played out. Bucky/Natasha is a must!!!

As much as I'd love a 30-minute Scarlett Johansson/Chris Evans sex scene, I'm not sure I peg BW and Cap together. I really loved the subtle bonding they had in Avengers, but it'd be nice to see one of those partner relationships to play out between a male and female character without falling into unnecessary sexual tension/love triangle zones.

If they put them in a relationship, I'd be cool with it, but if so I really don't want to see a love triangle play out. Not because I'm not a fan of 'em- hell, I'll enjoy a Thor/Jane/Sif triangle, but I'm just not interested in seeing one for Cap at all.

I'll say this from the start: Agent 13 *is* most likely Sharon Carter, and she's the most likely to be Cap's love interest, and comic-book canon shall remain faithful, yea brethren and amen.

But.

Looking at the MCU as a fresh start and take on the mythology, there are things to be taken into consideration when it comes to film. One of those things is that Sharon Carter --- as much as I hate to say it --- is largely redundant in the context of the MCU. Sexy superspy? Widow's already got that covered. Unless they're reinventing Sharon to have a different skillset that would clearly distinguish her from Natasha (or Maria Hill, for that matter), then general audiences would probably be wondering what her real purpose is in the movie.

So yeah --- I'd have to say I'd be very okay with MCU Agent 13 (who the studio remains reluctant to flat-out call "Sharon Carter") being Carol Danvers.

And if Sharon Carter *is* out of the picture altogether, then a Cap-Widow hookup starts making more sense.

I don't think the audience would be wondering that. If an audience likes a character, they don't care if someone else can do what they do, so long as they do is something worth their attention.

Meh, I'm not too bothered about Cap having a love interest. If he does though, I really do not want it to be Widow. What I do want is Widow x Bucky.

Not even gonna lie, I'm still rooting for Natasha/Clint in future movies, but not in a movie that neither of them is headlining unless it's Avengers 2 which features the full team. Then they could each be their own characters and neither one would technically be the 'love interest', they would be equals.

For this film it is still technically Steve's film, but throwing a love triangle in among everything else just seems like a terrible idea as there already seems to be so much going on. I like the idea of building some interest with Agent 13 but maybe not full blown romance (kinda like Tony/Pepper in IM1), so show a spark in this one but wait until the 3rd one to fully develop it into romance.

I don't like this new hairstyle but she does look more intimidating, which is good for her character.

I don't see a Cap/Widow thing going on for a couple of reasons.

First of all, Joss spent a lot of time subtly establishing the Hawkeye/Widow pseudo romance in TA. That relationship is not emotionally played out and after nearly 20 years of watching his output, I contend he has PLANS for these two. Joss is going to put Widow through the ringer in TA2. Trust me.

Secondly, Evans and ScarJo have no chemistry. Zilch. Watching them trying to play romantic opposite each other in other films is flicking painful.

Lastly, the Peggy/Steve relationship is far from resolved. It will be a major thread running through TWS.

This isn't 1985. The female romantic leads are not just place holders that can be switched out from film to film. They're important characters in their own right. Steve will not move on until the emotional resolution of these past relationships is complete.

I would expect TWS to somewhat resolve the Peggy Carter of it all, and perhaps introduce a potential love interest for Steve, at some point in the future, but there will not be time for any heavy duty lovin. The film is going to be awfully crowded, as it is.
