Not at all. Feige has specifically said Dr Strange is the magic side of the universe as in the side they haven't explored before

Well I certainly hope you're right, but until I see it in action, I remain skeptical of Feige's definition of "magic."

Ms Marvel is the best female superhero Marvel have! And her origin story is certainly one that can easily be adapted for the big screen, mwithout seeming to bizarre or forced. I really hope phase Three we get Ms Marvel. Plus she will be the first hero to have super powers in the MCU!!

I mean Extremis was guys breathing fire, a girl flying and shooting beams out her hands ain't that hard to do.

There's alot of great stories you can adapt which would work really well. Black Widow would be easy. Captain Marvel would take a little more work but can work if you loosened the origin up a bit and got some star power attached.

Spider-woman is tricky though. Even to bring her in to the movieverse would be tricky. Some people say they should call her Arachne and I think that will work but a solo film might be asking too much.

Well Black Widow already has a leg up since she's established in 2(soon to be 3) films already. So that'd be the easy way. She-Hulk is by far my favorite superheroine and she has an interesting origin story(some-what) and plenty of characterization to well seperate her from her cousin. And Ms. Marvel is kinda cool and popular even though her backstory/origin isn't all that. These 3 along with maybe Jessica Drew/Spider- Woman are the only ones IMO who could even remotely carry a full movie.

Black Widow prequel with the chick from Kick-Ass about her early days in Russia. But they probably won't do a grittier R-rated take so it wouldn't be worth it.

Your comments win. Can't wait for the new season of AR so you can change your Avy though.

The Widow comment reminds me of something they said a while back, specifically, they wanted to do new things, things they hadn't done before.

So as such, a Widow movie is kinda out. Her movie would very much be "Captain America 2: 2" as it's just more spies and more russia and more political thriller. And honestly, even though I really want a quality female superhero film, and Widow's established... she works well as a sidekick superhero, so to speak. Her role in IM2 was cool, and her larger role in Cap2 seems even more epic. I'd love to see her in Hulk 2 helping him sneak around or even a Captain Marvel film, that'd be kinda boss, two girls back to back against everyone.

While I think Scarlet Witch is an old standby, the truth is, she's kind of a supporting character in her world. Pietro is usually the lead, and a film would need to subvert that, in addition to making a new world for her since mutancy and all it's trappings are unavailable. I'd be interested in making such a thing, not sure I'd like anyone else's take on it though. It would be new though, and I think feature the kind of Not!Magic we've seen... I also think they won't do it for fear of stepping on Dr. Strange's mystical toes.

For Captain Marvel, even though her powers are a bit redundant with Iron Man/Thor, I think her story offers a couple really interesting things:
1) Deconstruction of the Superman archetype in Mar-Vell
2) A tragic literally star-crossed ill fated romance
3) A twist in which the apparently titular hero dies
4) If we give her a bit of her Binary-ness, she has a mastery/control ability which could be very fun.
5) It is a female superhero, and that comes with some implications that the media simply hasn't seen, especially compared with nearly non-powered heroes like Elektra, Catwoman, Aeon Flux and similar.

Just because magic and science are the same thing in the MCU doesn't mean magic doesn't exist. It's still going to be classic Dr. Strange spells and sorcery, just able to be explained through science.

That's exactly what I'm expecting. I'm just saying tying it to science is a way of tying it in to the cosmic stuff.

Thanks! And me too. I can't believe I'm about to have a plethora of new Lucille gifs to choose from. So exciting!

And I completely agree with everything you said in the rest of your post. I'm not just favoring Captain Marvel because she's more "cosmic" than Scarlett Witch, I'm also favoring her because she seems like a better lead. Her current title that DeConnick is writing is awesome, and while I don't remotely think it should be used as a model for a Captain Marvel movie (time travel, brain lesions limiting powers, etc are not great "origin story" threats), I do think it illustrates that the character makes for a great lead who can completely carry her own stories. And like you said, SW might also come a little close to stepping on Dr. Strange's toes, while Carol has a somewhat unique power-set and origin that would set her apart from what we've seen thus far.

Quicksilver has always played second fiddle to Wanda. There's a reason she's fairly popular in the fan community, and he's... not. He's just always kinda there, being a prick, whereas she developed a ton of friendships and relationships with others and evolved as a character in pretty significant ways.

The problem with a SW movie is that most of her solo material from the comics is convoluted nonsense, so they'd basically have to start from scratch for a movie. Which is certainly doable, but I don't know if they'd do it

^I keep forgetting that's how it was back in the day. But in modernity? My introduction to the character in any depth was House of M, where Pietro was the actor, even in 'activating' Wanda. Even in that little flashback Origin Story One Shot, Pietro seemed to drive the action. I certainly wouldn't mind it getting back to Wanda front and center, but that's not the way it's been played in the last ten-twenty years.

And, yeah, they'd have to start from scratch in nearly every way imaginable... she can't even be a mutant, in the Marvel sense.

I voted BW because I think she's the most likely for a "solo" film.I'd like to see She Hulk and Spider Woman, but I think they really need a nudge from an Avengers film (or in SH's case,a solo Hulk film would do.) before getting a solo film.

Captain Marvel would be great, but would it be a solo film? You'd have to deal with Mar'vell and so forth.....

Jessica Drew's backstory is enough to carry a solo film definitely. Mother being hit by rays from her experiment on spiders while pregnant causing Jessica to get powers. Parents killed and she's trained by Hydra and then put undercover into S.H.E.I.L.D. were she's supposed to kill Fury but decides not to. Turns against Hydra and works for S.H.E.I.L.D. Yeah that could definitely be a movie.

Does Marvel own Elektra now that they have Daredevil? If so, I'd say either Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, or Elektra.

I don't know for sure but Feige said this morning that the characters that haven't had alot of success in the cinematic world tend to come back to Marvel. I daresay that includes Elektra. Hopefully if they decide to make a Daredevil tv series she can appear in it and bring some of the mystery back to the character.

That's to bad, so I take she's part of the Spider-Man license?
Still Daughters of the Dragon works on it's own with primaries Knight & Wing.

Is there a list of what secondary characters are locked to what studio contracts?

With D.D. back at Marvel an Elektra reboot would make sense.

I'm surprised with the success of Avengers, that there isn't already a spin-off Black Widow solo movie in the works.
Characterwise she's probably their strongest contender, not to mention the actress already attached.

I'd love to see Valkyrie, conceptually and visually she could easily enough be spun out of the Thor franchise, and their whole Asgard set up.
