IM2 IM3 In that order. How is IM2 the weakest MCU film to date? I'd vote for Captain America or Thor. |

I'd vote for CA or TIH. However, I do enjoy all the MCU movies.

It's so tough to choose because IM3 is such a wonderful pivot. It's refreshing and bold. IM1 was simply fresh and wonderful because it was establishing the universe. Both are very different films. That said, I voted IM3.
One thing is for sure, Iron Man is THE best trilogy the genre has ever seen. All hail the champion. |

1 2 Loved pretty much everything about 3. Expanded on the MCU without going overboard. Loved the take on the Mandarin yes, there was a Mandarin, he just wasn't Ben Kingsley. Same kinda thing as Ubu/Ra's in Batman Begins Loved the character stuff, the evolution of Tony's technology and the it's role in the story, and the action. Really loved that the climax didn't involve a bad guy in a metal suit. The first Iron Man is a classic in my eyes and a great origin story, but Three (to me) is the ultimate achievement of a comic book on film. Couldn't be more excited to see what else Phase 2 has in store.

Since I just saw this last night I need some time to let it "settle", it's a toss up between IM and IM3 right now.

So, my ranking would be: 1) Iron Man - terrific origin movie 2) Iron Man 3 - very good Tony Stark movie 3) Iron Man 2 - worst of the three...perhaps the worst MCU movie to date...but I still enjoy it |

Iron Man. Out of the three, its the only one where something feels at stake. Tony is genuinely in danger and develops over the course of the film. At the time, the villain was not well liked but has emerged as the best of the trilogy after the villains in 2 and 3 fizzled due to the writers and directors not investing in them. 8/10
Iron Man 3. A fun comedy movie with Downey Jnr's timing impeccable. Great jokes and special effects, if not too heavy throughout. Let down by a moronic twist that will go down as one of the biggest missteps out of all the comicbook films. The worst villains of the Marvel films so far. 6/10 Iron Man 2. Lots of potential but the villain, Whiplash, spends to film sitting around fiddling. Biggest waste of what could have been a great villain. Meanwhile, Tony just bums around for most of the film. Is this the same Tony from Iron Man? 5/10 So far, only the Avengers has really showed the potential for Iron Man as a 'superhero'. But the since the original Iron Man, everyone's been so in love with Downey Jr that they've basically handed over the film to his charisma and have abandoned the story and villains. Watch Iron Man again. It's not set in the same universe as the other films. It's more drama whilst everything else has a serious slant to comedy and fantasy. It's almost a tie between Iron Man and Iron Man Three. I love them both; but Shane Black's movie definitely ups the ante, so to me it edges out the original. They're both part of the best comic book adaptations offered so far.

Iron Man
Iron Man 3 Iron Man 2 The 1st one nailed the right balance between seriousness and humor. While it lacked the action of the last two--especially three--that balance and story still makes it the best for me.

Not to me. The villain was poorly written and the second and third acts were mediocre.

I'd rank it as:
Iron Man Iron Man 3 Iron Man 2 To me, IM1 is the definitive IM film. Everything about that film is perfect and I have a hard time seeing anyone else top Favreau's take on the origin. IM2 gets more criticism than it deserves. I think the biggest problem it had was that it lacked the emotional weight IM1 has, and also that the villains are really underused and developed. IM3 brought back the weight of IM1 and had the best action scenes out of the trilogy. But the whole Mandarin plot twist really brings it down unfortunately. Had it not been for that, I think it may've been able to surpass IM1. |

1) Iron Man - The movie respected the source material and cast aside the parts that didn't work well.
2) Iron Man 2 - The movie was a bit too derivative of the first film, but it did advance the Stark character and the Avenger's narrative. 3) Iron Man 3 - It did NOT respect the source material on ANY level. They made it up as they went along and vaguely explained away too many loose ends at the end. I just couldn't accept the throw away plot point that Tony's genius fixed everything that was wrong at the end. Entirely too OTT.

IM1 , the best of the Modern day Superhero films ,Period.
IM3 Impressive performances by Kingsley and Pearce . Lots for the supporting cast to do. Dazzling visuals . Pretty good acton scenes . IM2 Weakest of the three. Its biggest problem is that has the weakest story and a bad villain combo IMO. |
