Telltale’s The Walking Dead Coming to PlayStation Vita

Today, IGN can confirm that season one of Telltale’s The Walking Dead will be coming to PlayStation Vita this year.

In an interview with PlayStation’s Director of Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation Don Mesa, it was revealed that Telltale’s critical and commercial smash-hit adventure series would migrate to Sony’s new handheld.

“Having [a studio] like Telltale, a very successful indie developer, coming in to support us sends a strong message,” Mesa told IGN in an extensive interview about all things PlayStation Vita.

In talking about how the Vita could offer unique experiences, Mesa continued speaking about the Vita iteration of the game. "Again, a good example is with The Walking Dead. We think that the emotion and the immersive experiences you're going to get there, wherever you're sitting, if you're in your living room and playing on your Vita or sitting at a café or at the bus stop and playing this, you get that shock or fright. I think that's going to be important. That's what we want to deliver as you're playing."

The release window for The Walking Dead season one on PlayStation Vita has yet to be determined. It’s also unclear if it will be released episodically – as it was on PS3 – or all at once. However, you can rest assured that it’s coming.

After having experienced Walking Dead on the consoles I don't have expectations that it will run all that great on the Vita.

I would love to know what went wrong there. I played the retail 360 version which is supposed to be the worst version I think. Most of the time it was perfectly fine, but when it went bad, it went real bad.

Why? The thing runs great on all platforms it's on including the iPhone. Vita actually seems like the best place for it as that's the only system it'll be on that can blend the touch and button controls

What kind of issues were there? I played the first two episodes when they were free on the PSN, and then I got the retail disc months later to finish it off, but I never had or heard of any issues with it.

It's very buggy. Lots of pauses in the animations as the game thinks about what to do next

Basically that^ To a really crazy degree.

Once the train and Lee left the camera behind and I was left floating in a void.

The 2nd and 3rd episodes were the worst in terms of bugs for me. The rest were fine.

I remember the second episode being particularly bad in terms the animation stuttering and pausing and dialogue getting messed up.

The only bug I noticed playing on PC was Duck being invisible in one scene

Saves also messed up all the time. I had two different playthroughs that would always get mixed up with each other.

Playing though this a second time and it's easily still as tense as it was the first time... Even knowing what's gonna happen. That's almost non existent in games anymore.

Maybe it's just me but I'm noticing Star Wars nods in Episode 4..

First Ben says: I got a baaaad feeling about this.. All exaggerated like..

Then when Lee borrows Helga from Molly Lee says "I promise you... She won't get a scratch." Then Molly replies ".. I got your promise now.. Not a scratch..?"

Funny.

The game is coming this year, so an announcement or trailer can't be too far.

“The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for Fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for the series!”

I gotta say...My second playthough...While still sticking to my core value system (more or less not being a dick to Clem) my game changed VASTLY. A lot of stuff happened that didn't in my first...More so after I chose to save Ben. Pretty neat...And I've heard that even THAT outcome can be different.

The nets have no heart. No Rose, Deng or Noah and their down 10 at home? They seem like a pathetic organization.

Finally, some news.

Quote:
The Walking Dead: 400 Days DLC Appears in Steam Database
Is this what Telltale’s recent Vines have been hinting at?

A Steam database listing seems to have leaked the news of the next installment in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. According to a listing on Steamdb, a piece of downloadable information regarding content titled “400 Days” has appeared on Steam.

If this is true, it would be in line with the recent Vines that Telltale has been leaking via Twitter. The short videos feature quick looks at various new characters, and have featured titles named after various days. So far there's been Day 2, Day 220, and Day 236.

If you saw Telltale's "Day 184" Vine, you may have noticed a quick shot of what looked like a neon sign displaying the number 4. Could this be in reference to 400 days? We were unable to reach Telltale for confirmation.

Previously, The Walking Dead writer Gary Whitta teased that more The Walking Dead is coming before season two. Telltale has targeted a Fall 2013 release for its second season, but no official details have been revealed just yet.

For more on The Walking Dead, check out our review of season one and our predictions for season two.

That was also from Episode 6 when Lando was taking the Falcon from Han wasn't it?

There was a Back To The Future reference that episode too when Lee was about to jump across to the other building. Molly calls Lee chicken then you can have Lee respond "No one calls me chicken" or something along those lines.
