I actually think the film was very well done. As far as acting, direction, effects, etc.

My problem is with the plot. Didn't think it was necessary. If it had gone differently, the film would be bumped up from the 8/10 that I stuck it at.

The character trajectory in this film is the direct result of The Avengers, and to me it felt like a natural progression. I'd love to understand how they messed up "everything that the Avengers got right."
Dont bother replying to those posts. Everyone will have their opinions, some of them may sound very odd.

The main problem with IM3 is that people were expecting many things to happen in the movie, which is not a bad thing considering the marketing used bait and switch tactics.
The direction they took was unexpected, but i thought they nailed what they were aiming for perfectly.
I was initially bothered, but Guy Pearce saved the plot twist for me and right now the movie is among my favorite in the marvel universe because they pretty much hit the point of why Tony is Iron Man instead of some random guy wearing a high tech prosthesis.

I swear to God, if I ever become a director and receive the awesome honor of directing a mainstream comic book movie...the last ****ing thing I'm doing is coming onto internet boards.

Because you can't please everyone. And so many people act like babies when what they THINK is their baby, is taken from their grasp and altered.

Anyone else get Disney surveys at their viewing? One of the questions was "how interested would you be in seeing the following films?" and the films listed were Thor 2, Cap 2, Ant Man, Avengers 2, The Lone Ranger (I think) and Iron Man 4.

I would've picked Avengers 2 and IM4, not even Kat Denning's rack will get me to see Thor 2 and I don't like Cap, Ant Man or the Lame Ranger.

how could you not want to see Thor 2, Cap 2, or be interested in Ant-Man??! Unless I guess you don't care about the MCU

lol listen to all you people declaring that Marvel is giving the big FU to it's audience for not showing Thor trailers or how Mandarin wasn't the racist stereotype you'd hoped for.

Get a grip. Meanwhile in the real world, life goes on.

Hey, I've been one of the biggest MCU/MS and Iron Man movie apologists around here for years and now I feel like that which I defended has turned around and kicked me in the nuts. How could I react differently?

Oh by all means be furious that's cool with me, doesn't effect how much I loved this movie and thought the Mandarin was a perfect adaption and the twist was so well done in the context of the movie. I think this movie more than perfectly sets up Phase 2 and I cannot wait

Sucks others let one character being different ruin the entire movie for them.

I'd say it sucks how all the seeming respect for their own mythos they had in phase 1 went right out the window in phase 2.

I don't think that's true at all. None of these movies were comic exact, and they shouldn't be. Who the hell wants to just see the same exact stories from the boring pages of the comics on the big screen? Give me elements from the comics; characters, storylines, costumes, and tell them in newer, more modern ways. Expand on what's already established and even go in new directions!

But what little they changed in phase 1 always seemed to hold a respect for the source material and a desire to hew as close as they could get away with in this medium. That isn't true any more.

I don't think altering one character to adapt from comic to movie, which in my eyes they did pretty well, isn't showing that they are going to drastically shift away from the source material in this Phase.

Many future plot points both comic inspired and new were presented in IM3, AIM and Roxxon are going to come into play mostly likely and so will the untapped part of the mind. I'm trying to keep an open mind to see these things play out, I think by this time next year after Cap 2 a lot of questions are going to be answered and probably a few new ones will be left unanswered until Avengers 2 and I love that.

Promise you'll keep an open mind with me Ked?? pretty please? also, I need to go to bed

how did the Mandarin show no respect to the source material. if anything, the Mandarain was the closest to the comics from all the IM villains yet. All they took away were his rings, everything else was right there in characterization (Killian) and look (Trevor)

Most movies do this. TASM had a 94% at one point too. TDKR was pretty high to then it dropped. You can't judge a movie RT within it's first 50 reviews.

Splitting him into two characters alone is too great a change, IMO. And I don't see how this even begins to be as faithful as Stane in IM1.

Not only did I end up liking the twist(Especially in my second viewing where I could actually notice little things that actually imply this twist is coming) but Trevor is probably my favorite character in the movie hahahahaha, I also get the feeling there is more to Trevor than meets the eye, his whole demeanor changed when Savin knocks out Tony, and he IS an actor, I'd like to see him return some day.

Edit: Also I must say I actually didn't notice Killians Dragon tattoos in my first viewing for some reason, he did an excellent job as the Mandarin, and was a worthy villain, who actually had a satisfying final battle as opposed to 1rst 2(IM1 is actually ok IMO just a little generic compared to the rest of the movie)
