That's pretty cool that the Tumbler made an appearance in an actual Batman comic.

I believe it also appeared in Heart of Hush.

I've seen the '66 batmobile and even the batman forever batmobile make appearances in the comics so i'm not sure why anybody would react negatively to the tumbler making as appearance?

That along with comic bane adopting a more TDKR Bane look are only good things in my view.

I'm just not interested in that.
I would actually agree with you if you weren't talking about some of the worst comics in Batman's history.

But i understand the feeling because that's one of the biggest problems with movie adaptations (sometimes based on very pedantic comics)...they are extremely limited of having to be derivative.

That's the main reason Nolan elevates the material. He breaks the stupid bubble.

Cool find Joker, thanks for posting. I'm not currently reading Detective so I might not have come across that otherwise.

I have no problem with it at all. It in no way tries to imply that the Batman of the comics is the same one as the movies. Using the Tumbler doesn't box the writers in creatively at all, it's simply a choice to an make a nod to something the writer/artist enjoyed from the movies.

I like the idea that each version of Batman doesn't exist entirely in a bubble and there can be some cross pollination.

Although this more than likely wont involve Nolan's Batman, this just came in from an anonymous source concerning reference of Batman/Wayne Enterprises in MOS:

That's exactly what I think

It's not like I felt like I was reading a Nolan Batman story here, or that I expect Batman to be using the Tumbler in every issue now either.

Did you know who ever make a thread explaining how he knew so much about Nolan's films He said that once the blu ray came out he would create a "tell all" thread. He's provided so much reliable info over the past years, I was really looking forward to his thread.

Also....what was his name? haha I'm honestly drawing a blank. How can I not remember his name? Everyone was always waiting for him to show up and provide info.

Not just the visual appearance but Batman actually namedropping 'The Tumbler' which removes all doubt. A double barrelled appearance. Pretty cool.

That doesn't add up, to me. How exactly can they make a reference to Batman that is emphatically not to Bale's Batman? Will it be the way they pronounce it? How are we supposed to infer that something different is conveyed in what will presumably be a simple name-drop of an off-screen character?

It's to intrigue and build curiosity. Those not in the know might guess that it has something to with Nolan's Batman until the question is finally answered with the upcoming reboot.

They can make a reference to Batman having captured someone that we didn't see in Nolan's trilogy. I think that would be enough for anyone to think it's not Nolan's Batman since his version only "worked" a year's time and that was dedicated to the mob outside of the villains we see in the films.

Sure, but objectively a reference to 'Batman' is just a reference to 'Batman', no? Unless the entity is rebuilt substantively then it can't be assumed to have derogated from how it was previously understood.

If it's a reference to an active batman or something that contradicts the trilogy then the already aware of the concept of reboots General Public will grasp it on a subtle level.

As for the reference, I think they'll have a scene in MOS that goes something like this:

Kid- Hey Superman, thanks for all the help. I hope you never retire.

Superman- If Batman won't bail on Gotham, than I'll never give up on you.

*Superman looks at the camera, points, and then winks.

Kid- Wait.....what?

*Superman starts to fly away, but in the distance shouts back to the kid

Superman- christianbalewontbeplayingbatmanwe'rerebootinghimm mmmmm........

Have the comics started making Bane look more TDKR-like?

It's crazy how well this look not only translates to the comics but actually improves on comic banes attire.

I think it's more the tubes they have to work on. They should make the tubing more subdued sort of how it looks like on TDKR Bane's mask and not these flailing protruding tubes that are such an obvious weakness.

Batman "bailing" out on Gotham has nothing to do with Superman giving up on Metropolis, lol.
