Hopefully having the MCU (and Marvel in general) around all year round will be a nice experience. So from for the next year it will be:

SHIELD September-October -> Thor/Big Hero 6/SHIELD November -> SHIELD December-March -> Cap/SHIELD April -> TASM2/SHIELD May ->DOFP July -> GotG August -> SHIELD S2 September

Wow. Only month we WON'T have a Marvel live-action property is June.

I'm excited but this cast seems soooo bland! Couldn't we get a little bit more diversity up in here?

Sorry, no offence but Buffy was a successful cult status series while Angel lasted for five seasons. Firefly had a strong male lead. I can't speak for other tv shows but I can tell you that it was usually because they were badly written. So I have to defend the Whedon shows- they didn't get canceled because of the male to female ratio or anything you were theorising- often it was studio interference or Fox being Fox. Ratings were actually steady for all of the shows and of course they were well written and it was always quite balanced - so speak for yourself.

Also, men may be physically stronger than women but even a SEAL can be taken surprise by a 14 year old female kid if the circumstances were in favour. You have heard of female martial arts students beating up men bigger than her right? The second you espouse that men are physically stronger than women doesnt mean the latter have to believe it. That's why they use their brains to overcome shortcomings. And you also place pressure upon men to feel that they have to prove their brawn to the opposite sex- not everyone will want to or can inflict violence. And of course 'in the real world' men do get abused by women in relationships or in families etc.

Just because this is the 'way things are and always will be', the status quo and such doesnt necessarily mean that there's not a counterpoint to the quo. Women in all forms of life, in the military etc will be always wanting to rise above outmoded, backwards ways of thinking. So in this sense, it reflects the world realistically.

What a silly and disrespectful post to women and their misconceived place in this world, I'm sorry to say.
Just this. Everything about your post is perfect.

I agree. I'm not saying I need minorities to be main characters in television series for me to watch them, but a few different shades wouldn't hurt. But I suppose on the other hand, having The Black agent or The Hispanic agent would only come off as pandering. Joss has never played characters as tokens, he always made them well-rounded individuals with a distinct voice. Their sexuality, ethnicity or gender was always an afterthought of the character.

I'm more or less just typing my thoughts now.

If Whedon's sticking around as showrunner, all bets are off for the cast's stability. He could kill one or two characters off and replace them with minority characters or just add more as he goes. Buffy and Angel both started with entirely white casts before they changed it up eventually. Or Angel did, at least. Buffy kind of remained mostly white except for a few guest stars...

In this case Whedon's bloodthirst could be a good thing. The deadwood can literally become deadwood if they fail to please the audience.

I'll be honest: I'm in it for Coulson kicking ass in his designer suits. Whedon can kill the rest of them for all I care. And he probably will.

Aren't two of the main women of Asian descent? I guess Asians doesn't count as a minority anymore.

Well, in terms of the planet and not just the United States, Asian women would make up the majority.

I just don't get the complaints about a lack of minorities, aside from the fact that we have female leads in an action series, but they're also obviously of Asian descent. Hell, one of them is named Ming an wen for Chris's sake. But yeah, this show is totally white washed

J.August Richards has an unspecified role in the show and I'm sure Samuel L.Jackson will make an appearance or two.

And what crusade am I on pray tell? I'm just saying, not really thinking outside of the box or ground breaking to have a pretty blonde or brunette white girl as a lead on an action show.

Edited to add: Footage looks good. Wonder who the guy in the hood is?!

This show by any other name would look generic, super powered characters on prime time tv has been done to death and never all that well. Before that avengers movie made marvel exciting again, fan boys would probably still be moaning about Coulson. But today, I'm feeling it. Can't wait.
