That's true: the Mandarin has never been a communist. Rather, the Mandarin wanted to cause World War III so he could rule the ashes.

One of the things that I loved about the film was how it took Tony’s character to several places that we’ve never seen him go or explore in previous films. This film definitely pushed the character to his limits, more so than any of the previous films that he’s made appearances in. And for the first time since Iron Man 1, we got to really see Tony emotionally vulnerable down to his core.

Honestly, it’s hard for me to believe at times that this is the sequel to Iron Man 2 since Shane Black did a complete 180 from that film in terms of how he approached with handling the character.

No he wasn't, but he wanted to cause world war 3, like america was projecting communists to do and was used as an explanation to a degree of why China does frowned upon things. Besides it's hard to explain the anti-Chinese propaganda away from someone named the Mandarin, thats like making an american villain and calling him the Redneck.

The whole time I was thinking that this movie is the follow up Iron Man should have had. It was nice seeing him in positions where I wasn't sure how he was going to get out of.

The first half of the movie up until the fight with the lava girl had the perfect tone and balance of humor and seriousness.

Absolutey loved the coffee shop scene with Rhody and Tony, when Tony walks out to his parked suit.

Despite the fact that I hate the film, there were fun moments

Spoilers:

-I liked the Tony Stark inventing moments.
-I found the music score to be acceptable (except the credits).
-I liked the fight between the REAL Mandarin and Tony.
-I never minded the fact that the movie was actually supposed to be darker than it is.

Cheadle's delivery of "You..you breathe fire!?" killed me. The way he sold it made it hilarious and memorable.

- The "You breathe fire?" bit where we even see Savin look on at Killian with a "WTF, Boss?" look.
- Iron Patriot and the running gag about how both Tony and Rhodes think the name is a bit lame. Even more impressive is how they manage not to include a token Captain America reference when discussing the new name and colors.
- Tony essentially becoming the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of MacGyver and making non-lethal gadgets out of hardware supplies.
- The one-liners.
- Mandarin's terrorist videos, which were all impressive and rather chilling.
- "Honestly, I hate working here. They're so weird." It's not every movie you see a villain's henchman just decide to am-scray and openly call his employers "weird".
- The Air Force One rescue sequence. I liked the reveal when it turns out Tony wasn't really there, which probably made the rescue more awesome, IMO.
- "That was really violent!" (Pepper saving Tony's ass from Killian)
- A certain song playing over the Marvel/Paramount logos. Good call.
- Speaking of songs, film had some pretty good music during certain scenes.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Tony's escape from the mansion. Ok, here it comes...3..2..1....Its coming any second now. Some line like that, can't remember. And the guards, the guards were great. "I don't even like working here, they're weird!" Trevor's response to the goal in the soccer game. WARMACHINEROX. ALL of Tony's scenes with the kid. I am shocked how much I loved his scenes with the kid actually. Happy's scenes at the beginning with the badges and "He's showing her his big brain".

The plane rescue was amazing. I didn't think it was going to be that good after seeing the super bowl trailer. "You breath fire" was indeed good and when War Machine goes to find Mandarin and keeps finding random civilians. I also loved Ben Kingsley's performance when he "killed" the oil tycoon. He was great there and the way he was able to shift from that to Trevor, even in the same scene later was brilliant. I loved the terrorism allegory about how America creates its enemies. I just loved this film.

Been listening to it here and there lately, and I've gotta say, the score is probably my favorite in the MCU. Love the main theme and 'Can You Dig It' especially.

Brian Tyler's stock has gone way up in my book, and I'm now looking forward to his treatment for Thor.

Iron Man 3 upset me after, really hated the mandarin and the heavy comedic tone...

Because I'm not that big an Iron Man fan so I'm not heavily invested in what changes they do that deviate from the comic, as long as the story and characters are entertaining that's fine by and I even liked Iron Man 2.

I really enjoyed Iron Man 2.

My favorite thing about Iron Man 3 would have to be Happy. He's the only recurring character who is consistent in personality and behavior across all three movies. He's also hilarious.

I enjoyed the plane rescue until the truck broke the suit and we found Tony wasn't even in it.

Why does that make the scene any less awesome?

As he said, we found Tony wasn't even in it.That takes all the excitement out as we found out Tony wasn't in danger for one second. What makes it even worse is that Iron Man was barely on screen and when it was, like in this scene, it wasn't actually him.

That said, I enjoyed Robert Downey Jr.

It really upped the stakes, it made for a more compelling movie when Tony is pushed to his limits.

Great score! It's memorable IMO.

Interesting final act... IM 1 and 2 didn't finish strong. IM 3 delivered.

Tension broken up by humor/ the lethal weaponesque feel to the movie kept it fresh... Changing directors was smart. I think if they stayed with Favreau again this movie would've turned out stale, which I didn't see a lot of critics complaining about cause Shane Black took the series in a new direction and kept it fresh and funny.

Great conclusion to the series. He'll be back for A2, but for Iron Man movies I feel like it was a satisfying finish. (who knows, with additional Avengers and his new remote suit capabilities, he may be a little more hands off in the future.) actually probably not, people don't want to see that

Anyhow, a lot to like, the movie worked for me, it's kinda too bad so many 'hardcore fans' had so many gripes. I was laughing my ass off during the Mandarin twist, it was so awesome that they kept the secret under wraps.

I love the part with Gary in the van. That was very funny.
And how blunt tony was with the kid. Especially "we're connected" line. Lol
And the air plane rescue was one of the best sequences I've seen in a movie ever. That was fantastic. Very heroic

Actually I think it's my second favorite marvel film
