I expect MOS to be Batman Begins-good, maybe even Rises good. ( I enjoyed Rises barely over Begins) But i don't see MOS being TDK good. I still consider TDK to be the best Superhero film we have gotten.
I want to be surprised though, and i'm hoping MOS is balls to the wall crazy good.
Even though the Richard Donner film is a classic, even though it jumpstarted the standards of what a comic book film can be, I truly think MOS will be the ultimate Superman film. I hope it turns out to be. God knows the Superman is a lame and boring character talk needs to stop.

I for one hope it's 10x better than Begins, especially when it comes to characterization. And dat 3rd act.

Also, listened to some sports radio this morning and they were trying to cast Phil Jackson for a movie and someone called in and said Michael Shannon. The guy was like "oh, yeah he would be awesome, and the girl was like "oh I love Michael Shannon, he is so great at acting." the guy said, "He is in the new Superman Movie, Man of Steel" the girl went on to say well, there have been like 6 or 7 superman movies. Its time to stop. The guy convinced her HOW awesome Man of Steel looked, and they watched the trailer 3 during commercial and she said "NOW that is Superman, you convinced me and that trailer just sold me, I will go see it, my 10 yr old son will love this!"

Score one for MOS!!

Well I know I'm going to practically be the only one who agrees with you.

As I said before I'll be actively disappointed if it's only as good as Batman Begins and TDKR's.

Batman Begins, while imo the weakest of the trilogy, is a great origin film. It has it's problems ( like rises) but it's still a great film. I will be happy with MOS being Begins good, just because I hold the Nolan series in such high regards.

I feel like i shouldn't be comparing MOS to nolan's trilogy but oh well.

I'm hoping for MOS to be a solid 80/100, 4 stars out of 5. If the film is that good, i will be happy. Anything above that is bonus.

I agree with all, I expect MOS to be on Begins' level. BB was my personal favorite of the DKT (Neeson, the theme (fear), the origin), so I'm hoping for at least that.

Everything I've seen and heard about MOS, however, makes me think otherwise

I'm hoping it's as good as Watchmen and TDK but as long as it's good I'll be okay.

Some of the early reactions via Screenrant:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
It’s the best movie of the year.
There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place.

IF WB would make this with a bit more space/atmosphere (show a bit more body of both men and a bit more cityscape on the background) you'd have a pretty badass billboard.

Kinda stupid that they made the Zod version with all the typography on the left.
