Skyfall was Sony's highest grossing movie of 2012 though. Then came TASM. But TASM2 will be their highest grossing for 2014 :]

The backstory of why Kal-El was sent to Earth sounds more interesting then the movie itself is going to be. This feels like two movies

Well it's about time I say! Although of course they'll stretch this out for a week or two instead of just releasing all of them at once like for TDK and TDKR.

It will be. Once the movie is out for a few weeks. Thats how these things work. Look at the poor Pacific Rim, it's only got 163.231

Skyfall wasn't a reboot either, and it had the Bond anniversary boosting the heck out of it. Plus the Bond skit at the London Olympics gave a massive amount of publicity to the film around the world.
