^Yup. I talked my wife into letting me pre-order it about 6 months back. I'm sure she won't be happy when I finally get charged for it.

You didn't take the flex pay route from sideshow collectibles?! Man I hope Keaton Batman can go in it and easily.

What I meant was the monthly plan for figures that side show collectibles has set up. How's your keaton batman holding up? Mine is just fine.

I grew up with Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever (hated Batman and Robin even when I saw it as an 8 year old) and Batman: The Animated Series.

Batman 89 was always a film I liked, but never loved. I preferred Returns as a kid and still do today.

Don't get me wrong, I still like Batman 89, but I don't think it has aged well at all. Many movies seem to show their age over time age, but Batman in particular suffers more than most films of the time imo. I don't think Burton had the chops to tackle such a big affair at the time. While you can tell Returns was filmed on a set, the movie does a better job at hiding it. Bats 89 feels like a stage production a lot of the time. There isn't much finesse in the pacing or editing. It's sadly dry and slow a lot of the time. While the actual designs of everything are great, the films narrative lacks drive or momentum. And I simply don't like the reveal of the Joker being the one who killed Bruces parents. Not because it differs from the comics, but it just doesn't work in the film. It felt tacked on.

There are still many things about it I enjoy: Keaton, Nicholson, the score, Batmans entrance in the film, the final showdown, the overall comic-booky plot...it's entertaining in parts, but sadly dull most of the time.

Yeah I just checked out the sideshow site earlier. I never even noticed the flexpay thing before. D:

The Keaton Batman is awesome. Have you replaced the cape yet? I got one from Tony Mei and they are in-cred-i-ble.

go to 4:30 and you'll see it

Well it's a movie that came out over 20 years ago and has been followed by 6 other batman films since so it's not shocking.

Tbh in my opinion out of the 2 burton Batman films i'd actually rank Returns ahead of Batman '89. If you want Tim Burton to direct a batman film what you want to see is just that, which is what returns was.

Batman-online.com is Burton Batman central, that's where you want to go to discuss the Burton Bat-films as well as the largest photo gallery for the films on the entire internet. I've been going to the forums over there for over five years or so, check it out!

I absolutely adore this movie it's just that in the 8 yrs I've been posting here I've pretty much said everything I ever needed to say about it. All new debates end up becoming really is repetition of debates that have been had about the movie before at this point.

I'm pretty sure if I were to live for a thousand years, I still wouldn't have enough time to properly express my appreciation of B89.

I was skeptical of Tony Mei's cape also... but once you see it, you'll see it's infinitely superior and more screen accurate than the one that came from Hot Toys.

All of the other Batman films lack the feel that this one does. It's full of mystery that goes hand in hand with the Batman character. They don't make em like this anymore.

Not here...

Batman '89 is still amazing in my eyes...
it fights for top spot in my greatest batman "anything" ever made list along with tons of other amazing things we have been gifted in the last 30 or so years...(mask of the phantasm, batman beyond, year one, TAS, Arkham games, etc. etc.)

I will never tire of watching the Axis chemical fight where Joker is created, the museum and batmobile ride along, and definitely never tire of watching when the batmobile blows up axis chemical all the way to the end of the film.

I think the only thing that is holding the Neca 89 Batman from being good are the eyes. They need a bit of work.

Well I love the movie, its one of the best Batman films out there. I can't say the same its sequel. Jack as Joker he was born to play it. I like Keaton as Batman but not as Bruce Wayne.

not true! I love the film! saw it like 6 times in the theater when it came out.

like others have said,it's just that it's 20 + years old now,and it's not that there isn't anything to talk about,it's just that it's rare to find something NEW to talk about!

but....next year is the 25th Anniversary. and I have a feeling we'll see a lot of stuff come out to commemorate it. I'd LOVE WB forever if they do a theatrical rerelease, even a limited one-week run or something!

Damn it, man, open up that Bob and play with him!

Also, is it just me or do the boxes of that second set of toys remind anyone of the boxes the animated series Spider-Man toys used to come in?
