Right now the biggest name is probably Saldana. It's obvious he's planning on making this a very quirky flick, with a lot of the humor stemming from the stoic nature of most of the cast except Pratt. Everybody else that has been cast is pretty much playing characters where the humor comes from how humorless they actually are.

Except for Rocket. He's not completely humorless.

Which is still possible.
This isn't about how big a name Star-Lord needs or doesn't need to be, it's about James Gunn's casting process for all characters. He will cast whoever he sees fit in the role, be they big name actors or not, because he knows Marvel will allow him to do so as long as they understand that it will make the movie better. Chris Pratt is only an example.

I've seen what Gunn has had to say on the subject and I'm not going to call him a liar, because I don't think he is. But if you think Marvel is going to plop down $150-200 million for a movie with a talking raccoon in it and not have some say in it, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Sorry, I just can't imagine Disney/Marvel being like "Ok dude, do whatever you want just let us know how much money you need." I just don't see it. And this goes beyond the casting process.

Yeah, this dude's weight can yo-yo like a mother****er. We should all be so lucky to be able to put it on and take it off so easy.

Thinking again, maybe Starlord is even funnier being skinny... but I'm sure Pratt will put it off in comedic scenes as much as in action scenes.

Yeah. It makes sense why they casted Batista as Drax now. The only way to make him bigger than big. Either way, this team makes The Avengers look teeny.

Pratt and Hemsworth are pretty much the biggest dudes we've seen as leads in comic book movies so far.

Hemsworth is a bit bulkier than Henry in their respective roles, his suit just isn't as tight as Henry's.

I noticed that too but I uh...think we mean it in different ways.

Pratt surely looks bulked up. It's going to be great to see everyone in their costumes!

Might I say, that Pratt looks damn young for his age. Today he turns 34, but he can easily play a 26 year old.

Definitely looks the part and he's really taking this part seriously like I knew he could. Marvel really gets their star actors in tip-top shape for their roles.

It's amazing how much his face has become more chiseled with the low fat percentage.
