I think if they keep the main theme, I'm not worried about other music. That main theme is so freaking majestic!

I think negotiations with Doyle must have fell through. I know they were talking with him, up until very recently.

Though I saw some of the movies Burwell did I have no idea about his style. Hope he'll make a good job. At the moment I'd like to have Doyle. But we'll see.

I'm guessing Doyle's schedule wouldn't allow both Thor: TDW and Jack Ryan, the latter getting priority because of Branagh.

Burwell is an interesting choice to say the least.

VERY dissapointed Patrick Doyle isnt coming back, his score for the first movie was superb, one of my favourite scores of the last few years.

Never really heard any scores from Burwell, but I hope he keeps the main theme/s from the first movie.

I'm OK with Burwell or any other as long as they keep the Thor main theme (or Sons of Odin, If I remember correctly).

Burwell is amazing! His True Grit score is one of the best I've ever heard I think.

Burwell has removed this from his list of upcoming projects on his official website.

Wow, what happened between May 21 and now?

On May 21 Cristopher Willis twittered that he began working with Burwell on the sountrack....

It seems somewhat fitting that they get a late switch of composer when Alan Taylor directs since the same thing happened with Game of Thrones. Hopefully this gets as good results since the GoT intro is a classic by now.

I was actually curious of what Burwell would do with this. Pity. Well if they are replacing Burwell hopefully it's a sign that Doyle's returning. If not then please keep away from this man

and his army of composer clones. It's bad enough there are rumors that the overrated Henry Jackman is scoring CA:TWS instead of Silvestri returning for a second adventure.

Ford A. Thaxton says that in addition to Burwell departing Thor: The Dark World, director Alan Taylor is no longer involved with editing and post-production work. He did say that the replacement composer would be a "very interesting replacement and is a VERY TALENTED composer as well." So that means any of the RC/MV folks are out.

This kind of bad publicity is biting Marvel Studios in the ass. First the salary disputes with the stars on Avengers 2, and now both Taylor and Burwell are out from Thor: The Dark World.

Old news as we've been discussing it the past couple days. Many aren't believing the entire story since this Ford Thaxton guy seems pretty sketchy. Seems like the Burwell thing is being confirmed but nothing about Taylor. Another film music guy is still willing to vouch for Thaxton as a reliable source so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Creative differences were cited. Maybe he wanted to go in one direction and Disney wanted another, and one of them refused to compromise. Maybe he'd written a bunch of stuff already, grown attached and they didn't like it.

Ford A. Thaxton said that Burwell only wrote a few demo cues, nothing major.

Whoever ends up composing the film, it must be REQUIRED to reused some of Doyle's themes.

I don't know what to think about Tyler scoring T:TDW. I wasn't impressed with his IM3 score. Though I thought it was a decent score overall with a catchy main theme. And I agree with those that believe IM3 was the best score of three IM's, but that isn't saying much to me. Since, imo, Djawadi's IM score was just generic MV/RC rubbish and Debney's IM2 was mostly "forgettable". I also don't agree with those that believe Tyler's IM3 was the best MCU score. I honestly don't know what is, but I certainly don't think it's Tyler's IM3. I hope Tyler the best with Thor 2. Pity about Doyle though.
