X-Men Is my favorate comic book but that didn't make me blind to last Stand and Origins.
Yea I dont understand the obsession with making movies like these "realistic", It dont always work. These are comic book films, when you watch them u should feel like youre seeing comic book panels in live action on the big screen...This aint always the case but most of the time it is.

I hope its just a good "Wolverine" film in its own right. Trying not to get too excited even though the trailers look great, after being dissappointed by the last one, but I am being quietly optimistic while all the time have than nagging feeling in the back of my head.

I think it could definitely be better than IM3 that's for sure. MoS is gonna be tough to beat for me.

So with that being said I think The Wolverine is going to be another addition to the good films list.

But when you add total superhero films they've made their average drops considerably to 3 out of 9.

I think neither should be that difficult to beat especially MoS. However I think Thor2 will end up the victor of the year critically.

Yeah good thing they dropped most of their property like Dare Devil and Elektra. It seemed Fox were so eager to keep pumping out Marvel movies fast that in 2004 - 2009 they came out mediocre to really bad in the process. Keeping X-men and Fantastic Four is good enough. They got so many characters in those franchises alone that they don't need other Marvel characters.

Yeah Thor 2 could be the best superhero film of the year!

I really liked Thor 1 and was surprised that it only got less than 80% in Rotten Tomatoes.com.

Well another thing is they hired people with not so great track record.

Hopefully this time, FOX will release good X-Men and Fantastic Four films! No more bad/average films! I really like the idea of the world of the X-Men and Fantastic Four coming together since they are my top 2 favorite superhero teams in the Marvel universe.

I wasnt blown away by the trailer for Thor 2 BUT judging films on their trailers is very very dangerous based on this years films alone!!

We shall see but you may be right it seems most people have ignored that one.

I do hope Wolverine is the best but I would settle for best of the x men films.

From the competition so far, Wolverine has a big chance to be the best.

Man of Steel got a 56% rating in Rotten Tomatoes. Which is close to X3's rating in Rotten Tomatoes which is 57%. The thing is everybody expected Man of Steel to be the best superhero movie this year and Wolverine as the worst and if you read the first few pages of this thread, you will see that reaction.

Yeah its funny how things can change. Before IM3 and MoS came out nobody gave Wolverine any hope but now they have been and gone and neither quite lived up to the hype the Wolverine might after all sneak in and take the crown and of course Thor 2 will have a say now, not so clear cut as it first appeared.

For me it's IM3 7/10, MOS 9/10. Wolverine needs to be really awesome to top MOS for me.

One things for certain it will have a different tone to those two. Not nearly as much big set pieces or things exploding as either of those two films. Whether that turns out to be good or bad we shall see.

My ratings so far would be:
IM3 6/10
MoS 7.5/10

Wolverine hopefully can compete with them.

Set pieces are actually something I don't want with Wolverine. It should be smaller and more personal. As long as it's got a great story and action that isn't cartoony like it was in Origins, I'll enjoy it.

Now that i finally saw MOS i think there are good chances Wolverine could be the greatest!

Although the design and the visual impact is good, the movie has serious pacing issues.. sometimes the cgi characters/fight dont blend very good and certain scenes look awkward ( the dogs rescue for example). Like trying to get serious with those angles and score, but something is not right...i dont know..
Hope Wolverine is more emotional..

Yeah I wasn't impressed MOS at all. I really enjoyed Iron Man 3, but I think either The Wolverine or Thor 2 have a decent shot at topping it.

James Mangold is one of the most underrated directors in the biz and the 'floor' for this movie is pretty high. Even if its not all that great, at worst it'll be better than XMTLS and XMOW and a fun juxtaposition between the superhero and samurai genres. People are going to have low expectations going into this, and will walk out surprised at the cerebral storytelling and personal take on the character. I think this will be in the mid 70's to early 80's on Rotten Tomatoes, so about the same as IM3.

With that said, I think Thor 2 will go down as the consensus 'best' CBM of the year. I think the scope of the movie is going to blow away some of the GA who might be expecting a more low-key Thor movie like the first one. People are really getting into Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings, I think they'll dig Thor 2. Kick-Ass 2 looks like a fun, albeit disposable movie. I could be wrong, but I don't think it'll match up well with IM3, Wolvie, and Thor 2, especially critically

Predictions for 'the general consensus' list of best CBM's:

1. Thor: The Dark World
2a. Iron Man 3
2b. Wolverine
3. Kick-Ass 2
4. Man of Steel

KickAss 2 could even come out on top forgot about that one. The first was brilliant, funny and had some great action sequences.

Interesting that no one has resurrected this thread yet.

I certainly think this movie has some elements that are way stronger than the other two that have come out this year so far--lead female characters, romance, drama, faithfulness to the character--but it also has its weaker elements--soundtrack, Viper, the ending.

I think I have to give it a second viewing before I finalize my opinion if it's my favorite superhero film so far. What do you guys think?

It was my no. 3 this year so far, a long way behind MOS and a little behind IM3.
