I never felt that way either. Hopefully WB realizes how many fans want this and cater to our demands

I wouldn't want a Batman movie to be the kind of insipid, nakedly commercial cross-over/sequel setup that Marvel produces every three weeks; but Batman, in my opinion, has the strongest mythos in comics and there is nothing within it that agitates against a faithful adaptation. If Paul Dini can do it in 25 minute cartoons, a director can do it in two hours with an ample budget.

If they want to tie Batman in with a bigger universe, fine, but don't go Iron Man 2 overboard with it.

At the beginning of the film, we see Batman's super computer piling up research on this Supermam that showed up while he gets a call of a villain disturbing the peace(The Riddler) and he takes that villain to Arkham Asylum. Yes, that's right, I want a AA/AC inspired reboot, but with Dr. Strange as the main villain and take out Joker and the League of Shadows. Use Dr. Strange and other villains that would work into the psychology of Batman: Riddler, as I mentioned, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter and maybe even Clayface?

That whole idea will keep Batman away from doing anything else related to the "bigger picture" of the Justice League and what have you as he'll be a lone man on a mission. Very Die Hard-esque.

Much as I'm not technically against the next Batman being a part of a 'DC film universe' and much I liked Man of Steel... (well, I say "liked", "didn't hate" would be a bit more appropriate) I really don't want Snyder's blue-filtered, 'realistic' Superman to be the one Batman finally meets onscreen.

Like I said, I didn't hate the movie and Cavill was good in the role... but it really didn't mesh terribly well with my idea of what Superman is, and more importantly what the DC Universe is...

See, I don't get that point of view. What MOS delivers is the beginning of Superman. The end of the movie is the beginning of Clark/Kal-El becoming Superman. He has to go through a lot to get to that point. And secondly, what exactly is your idea of what the DC universe should be? A lighter tone with one-liners during a crisis?

The reboot needs to look to the Arkham games and the Animated Series for inspiration. Your concept is what I was thinking too. Replace Joker with Riddler. I would give Joker a cameo or some great reference to say that he's locked in Arkham somewhere "safe" and you just hear him laughing on one floor in the Asylum, as Batman passes by to get to the next floor.

I would have small roles by Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist (cameo), Calendar Man (cameo), Killer Croc (Man-Bat or Clayface appearances could be cool too), Strange as a big villain along with Riddler. References to Two-Face and Scarecrow without showing them.

Then a sequel would actually be the 4th time you see that version of Batman. Maybe it's a different actor by then, who knows. But do Dick Graysons origin. Have Penguin and Black Mask as the antagonists.

The diluted look? That's one thing I can agree with. I'm not too hyped on that being the look with the DC cinematic universe, and if the look is different than the other DC films, how will they all look like in one solo JL film? That's the trickiest part to how Man of Steel was filtered.

ALTHOUGH, in some pictures....it looks to be just fine:

Great minds think alike, Shauner.

I was thinking the film starts with us taking a stroll through the Batcave, whereever the camera takes us as we get to the super computer while it's doing research on Superman but then all of this has a voiceover of Bruce Wayne meeting Dr. Hugo Strange for required sessions with a psychiatrist as Bruce burst into a fit of rage during a Wayne Enterprises board meeting when he found out one of his satellites was destroyed(by Zod and Superman in MOS) and via flashbacks throughout the entire film we find out that Strange slowly deduces that Bruce and Batman is the same. As Batman, who was regarded for the longest as a myth before this film explores a locked Arkham Asylum, he deals with other villains(who I think need to be based on the villains that would be a threat psychologically that Strange can use to his advantage such as Scarecrow and Mad Hatter), while also slowly finding out that this still-unknown Riddler character is a washed-up journalist named Eddie Nashton that Strange is brainwashing for his dirty deeds to get Batman to escort him to Arkham Asylum.

The film ends with Batman and Strange(dressed up as Batman)

Maybe Strange even has some more muscle to help him out like Clayface of Killer Croc, but this film could be a very psychological take combining the elements of Arkham Asylum/City and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth(also, watching NBC'S Hannibal has really made me think of this idea being such a great reboot introduction).

The reason I don't think I'd give anything big towards guys like Joker and Two-Face is because, quite frankly, Nolan used those two greatly...this reboot should start with lesser known villains to the general audience as well as a much, much, much better version of Scarecrow. MAYBE a nod to the Joker, but only that. I don't think I'd even want to hear Joker laugh as Batman walks down a hall.

Main villain: Dr. Strange (and his muscle could be Clayface or Killer Croc)

Minor villains: The Riddler, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter (and Clayface if he isn't used as Strange's muscle)

Cameos: Calendar Man, The Ventriloquist(good idea mentioning him, totally forgot about him myself)

Batman needs to have his grey and black suit.

Robin needs to be in the new series, preferably Oracle too.

Gotham needs to look less like a real city, and it needs to have its own style. Gotham should set the same mood that it does in Arkham City and BTAS. I liked Burton and Schumacher's Gotham City's more than Nolan's because they were so much more imaginative.

The growling bat voice needs to go, Conroy or Greenwood style Batvoice needs to happen. Gosling couldn't deliver the Conroy style Batvoice, and to me that is the definitive voice.

Characters like Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze and Clayface should be introduced, I'm tired of toning down the villains to be realistic. We need less realism this time around.

And we NEED a more comics accurate Batmobile and a legit Batcave. The batcave in BB and TDKR was incredibly disappointing. I want an over the top Batcave like in the Burton & Schumacher movies

I'd like to see a sneakier Batman in fight scenes, he should utilize the shadows more and stalk his enemies in the shadows, taking them down one by one. In scenes like this, it'd be cool to only get quick glimpses of Batman as he takes thugs down.

This next Batman film should establish how much of a genius Bruce is. Lucius should have a small part in the next series, but Bruce should make his own gadgets.

Arkham Asylum/City and B:TAS should have a major influence on the next set of films. Those are the best adaptations of the character.

Robin will be in the new movies. If it was up to me I never use him I don't hate Robin or other Bat family I just prefer Batman solo. I did like Tim Drake in Arkhamverse or animated series so I don't mind him & Dick but please no Damian Wayne.

All these points are exactly what I want, and I truly believe would make a great batman series.

I'd also add
-A more brooding, eerie score rather than the heavy score of the TDK trilogy

-Fight scenes that make the audience say WOW and it looks like Batman really is one of the best hand to hand fighters in the world rather than a brawler like Bale

-Rather than just once or twice in the movie, Batman should actually use his gadgets, especially the batarangs which were mostly non-existent from the TDK trilogy

-Less focus on Batman as a symbol (done already) and more on the craziness of Gotham City (Batman, the freaks, Arkham Asylum)

Because there are fans that love the character. WB will do it because of that, they wouldn't want to lose out $$$ on the character.

To be honest, i really think keeping Bale but taking Batman in a new direction is the way to go.

Since the dark knight rises, gotham rebuilt, wayne enterprises gets back on track after the 'bane' incident - merges with other companies to grow - such as lex corp.

Wayne comes out of the shadows, he too, like anyone else was scared and fled the country but, feels it's gotham that needs rebuilding.

He could be on crutches at various press events and says he has had surgery done on his knee whilst in italy.

Nightwing patrols the streets, but not like how Batman did, this vigilante is all about smaller crimes, the muggings, drugs, truent kids.

Bruce is in Gotham and working with Gordon, through his company to rebuild and improve security.

We see Bruce actually knuckle down and work, using his detective skills behind the scenes, helping hiscompany/applied sciences by inventing gadgets for the GCPD, but this is all a front as he has a super computer, so to speak that is also tracking the criminal under world and is helping Nightwing. This may sound a bit iron manish, but i feel a mature bruce wayne has parallels with tony stark - i could be wrong, but the way i see it.

There is a crime threat, that nightwing and batman solve together, i guess i would personally like to Riddler.

Then, one night, on CNN, a UFO appears, superman story unfolds in front of his eyes.

Wayne enterprises makes a statement regarding their satelite being destroyed.

Obviously there is a 'web cam' on the satelite that reveals images of the battle. A few images of superman are clearly visible and bruce takes notes.

Bruce has an unhealthy obsession with Superman - going from the article lois lane had sent out n conspiracy sites, he puts two and two together and targets clark kent - this prompt bruce to travel to metropolis and use lois lane as his go to, giving her exclusives and meeting clark kent.

Meanwhile, Lucious Fox uncovers some sinister plans happening over at lex corp. Fragments of machines used by zod are docomposing, their reactors displaying nuclear type qualities, although not harmful to humans - the cells taken from zod react to it - lex has discovered kryptonite and planning on arming police with bullets and armoury incorporated with this.

This prompts bruce to suit up, not in an armour, but a simpler version of the suit, more to hide his identity, but to show the symbolism of batman.

Batman tells superman about lex corp, which results in a show down of lex in a super suit, armed with kryptonite.

At the end, lex is defeated, and clark thanks batman using his name, bruce.. Batman responds with, using clark.

Obviously we have a few moments in the film where superman saves the day, a burning building, cat in a tree etc, and we also see the relationship of bruce and nightwing.

Sure, this isnt to evryones taste, but that's how i would play it out.

Is this for a batman solo film or a "World's Finest" team up with Superman? If it's a batman solo, I think there's way too much focus on Superman (for example why is Bruce so obsessed with him? Doesn't seem like the Nolan batman's style). It sounds like a solid idea for "World's Finest" tho, but there would have to be a lot less Nightwing and a lot more Superman.

I'd like to see a more built up myth of Batman, with the public being unsure what is attacking criminals at night. And literally, we need to see less of Batman in daytime/well-lit environments, and more of him lurking in shadows, barely visible.

The 4th time? Do you mean the sequel to this film should be after two Justice League films?
Nice. I agree with all of that.

4th time yeah. There's a greater chance that we'll be seeing this new Batman introduced in Justice League by Snyder/Goyer who will then pass it off to a new writer/director in the actor's first starring role as Batman. Then im assuming there could be a Justice League sequel that happens after his first solo outing. So a Batman solo sequel could actually be the 4th time we see this version.

It's either gonna go like this...

JL, solo bats, JL #2, sequel to solo bats OR

World Finest could be used to launch the new Batman reboot too.

JL, solo bats, JL #2, sequel to solo bats OR
solo bats rebooted, JL, sequel to solo bats, JL #2 OR
JL, solo bats, sequel to solo bats, JL #2
If it would be after a JL film, then scratch his computer doing research on Superman and have some other reason why Bruce is made to get required sessions with a psychiatrist, but if you have a reboot before a JL film, what I said makes sense, imo.

I wouldn't mind a Batman reboot, JL film, JL sequel and then a World's Finest either. Not really rebooting for a series of Batflicks, but just give us one great Batman film, then installments for other films like JL and WF....also, it would be a great amount of time to work into using Joker, which would be a perfect villain for a World's Finest.

1) World's Greatest Detective (something Nolan didn't show).
2) Better fighting scenes (Nolan had some loljedikick moments)
3) Create a unique suit with something other than rubber (while still allowing cowl to be free-flowing).

That's about it...

1) Make him World's Greatest Detective
2) The world he lives in should be more fantastic than straight grounded
3) More diverse villain crew than Joker, two-face, catwoman, maybe riddler

IMO the world that they inhabit should be a world in transition. Superman was just the beginning, now the impossible is becoming more and more likely and that can include more garish and bizarre superheroes and villains. I hope the next Bat-movie can capture that feeling.

Interestingly, your 'world in transition' was what I hoped was happening with Batman Begins. Sadly, the sequels stuck in the same gear.

Nice to see that many people were no satisfied about Batman's detective skills displayed so far. We really need to see the world's greatest detective.

All these ideas are great so far, and make me excited for the future of batman.

Having said that, is there any realistic timeline or plan moving forward? So far all I've heard of is that a MoS 2 is greenlit, haven't heard anything else. Supposedly the JL franchise was dependent on MoS's success, and unfortunately it was panned by critics.

When do you guys think we can realistically expect Batmans's return to the big screen?
