Putting what you really, really want to happen aside.. do you honestly see Fox building a new films series (not one movie, not two but a series) with Stephen Lang as the heroic lead?

Really?

It makes no sense whatsoever to me. The guy is a decent actor but he's one-note: sinister villain. Maybe I missed a performance he's been the lead hero and sells himself so well in. Or maybe it's just that he's tall, older, juices and has white hair.

There's a checklist that all casting choices have to follow, and goods, box office draw and marketability are at the top of the list. Ron Perlman has more heroic charisma than Lang but even he has to be covered in makeup to be turned into a comic book movie lead. And that film series wasn't that much of a risk. We're talking about X-Men here. Fox is taking this seriously now.

Yeah as the lead, he wouldn't work.

Not die during filming but you do have to worry about longevity. A trilogy of movies takes close to a decade from start to finish. That's why they try to go younger. Bale, Cavill, Jackman, Tobey, Routh, Garfield, Hemsworth, Evans, etc, etc. Exceptions to the rule do happen but they are few and far between. Plus that means either the actor will do anything for the role or the studio is hungry for them.

Physicality is still an important aspect though. Look at Bruce Willis, Stallone and Schwarzenegger's recent movies. You can tell they're just not agile anymore. Again, if you're ok with that that's your prerogative. I prefer to see these characters not look wooden or incapable of superheroic feats.

An early 40 something actor would be ideal for Cable. That actor doesn't have to look really old, the actor just needs to look mature enough to look like an adult. Then give an order to that actor to dye his hair white.

Also, about Christopher Lee not being a badass, he played Sauraman and Count Dooku when he was in his mid-eighties.
Great points.

Stephen Lang is a college kid compared to Christopher Lee who played two badass villains during a much older age.

A guy who can't pull of looking at least 40 won't really seem like Cable even if he gives an excellent performance. It's too important an element of his established look.

yes. Thats his current look, just with longer hair yet.

and he is a martial arts winner on some competitions, so he has the skills for the role already

Haha but he's 19 years old and 5'8. I think they can find a better First Nation actor for Warpath than that

I'm all for any character that can attribute to an Excalibur movie Brits need a superhero team. Fox doesn't need to worry about American audiences as long as the movie is an X-Men spin off. Give me the Sword of Might dammit

Also, Alex Meraz for Warpath. He's 28 and 6' tall. Dancer and martial artist and pretty much the only decent thing to come from the Twilight movies outside of Rob Pattinson

Booboo Stewart Is playing warpath In DOFP and he may return If Warpath Is In DOFP.Of course this could turn out like Pyro In X2 and Kitty In Last Stand and recast.

It's funny after all these complants on ages of Hugh jackman,Halle Berry, and
Famke Janssen that some want Stephen Lang as cable.Don't be shocked If Fox tries to get the Rock to play Cable.

As for deadpool I may be In minoirty view but since they want to distance theselves from origins they should recast Deadpool.

seems like a pretty decent line-up, but I guess the studio and many fans would like at least one new girl, so they could easily add Psylocke or Siryn, and there u have, a pretty cool new X-Men team.

It will be really great to see a whole new team on the big screen, giving us the feeling that the movie universe is really huge, with all those mutants around.

There will probally be 1 woman-Domino.If Cable Is In film odds are good she will join him.

Siryn allows you to have an X-Men connection being former student as seen In X2 and Last Stand and they could even mention Banshee as her father but If Wolverine Is In film that would be all the X-Men connection that Is needed.

with Psylocke the question will be do they want to reintroduce her In an outright X-Men sequel or In a spin-off film like X-FOrce.

Since Fox loves Wolverine so much, they could bring in X-23 as a connection to him without making him a main character (possible Jackman cameo). They could bring in Boom Boom to provide some comedy and light hearted moments while still kicking ass, plus her powers are visually cool. And they could bring in Loa as a the younger point of view character (sort of like Kitty and Jubilee were in the early comics and Rogue was in the first movie). Also, Loa is cool and I want her in the movie.

If done right this could be awesome beyond words.

I cant understand fans who are open to even more recasts on this franchise

thats exactly what Fox should avoid for the rest of the future movies.

With Pacific Rim opening with less than $40 million at the box-office. Fox better hire an actor that will draw the mainstream audience.
