Even there I don't think MoS can hold it's own. And I mildly liked MoS but those others are just much better. Now MoS vs X-Men 1-2 or Spider-man 1-2 I think is more apt.

I thought the poll said IM3 at first so the results confused me.
But yeah although I enjoyed MOS slightly more, I acknowledge that IM was much better received than MOS.

Iron Man by far. The origin of Superman in Man of Steel was done really sloppy and quickly and the whole emotion was drown in the endless fights and explosions throught the whole movie. Stark's story was carefully crafted and took its time to develop the character the proper way. One of the best superhero origins on film and definitely in the top 10 movies of its genre.

Not that Iron Man did bad in any of those categories, I just felt MOS did better.
I agree with this. Especially with the villains, I like how MOS's villain is going to have his actions resonate throughout the sequel.

Very, very close.

Iron Man was a superb film, it rivals the Dark Knight as a super-hero movie
that deconstructs the super-hero and brings him right down to a very
human level. Definitely one of my fave superhero films of all time
and vastly superior to its sequels.

However, MOS is the reimagined origin of my favourite superhero, right from
his birth on a dying world at war with itself, through his difficult childhood,
and adulthood plagued with self-doubt and confusion, right to his second birth as "Superman" (watch the flight scene, IMO best Super-hero scene ever, the music is the same as when Kal-El is born) and his battle with his own people, and the choice he has to make. At ever stage the character struggles both internally, and with external forces, to find his place in the world.

Watching it again, I was amazed by the visuals, and particularly the care Snyder takes with visual transitions, and at the same time Zimmer does the same with the score.

Action wise it is a spectacle, that challenges us to think about what it would be like if titans walked the Earth, and doesn't hold back on its realistic depiction of the consequences of their actions (particularly in the carnage they'd create).

While I will admit that RD jr is a stronger lead than Cav-El, Henry still does the role proud, in displaying Superman's earnestness, resolve and moral centre. Of course both films had great supporting casts, with the group around Cav-El, IMO, providing a warmer and deeper background for the
original super-hero.

People have debated the morality of this film, in terms of the collateral damage. I think they missed the bigger picture, that Superman fights for the Earth and humanity itself. But that's a debate for another thread, and I've fought that one more than a few times with other people.

So, all in all, Iron Man 8.9/10 and MOS 9/10. But, I am a very biased Superman -fan, so it really is just IMO, and this was not an easy choice.

Iron Man is great in that it introduced us to Stark and RDJ. A truly entertaining character.

But I'm really sick of Stark and RDJ now, and I find the movie to be somewhat underwhelming, especially by the third act.

So Man of Steel.

(However, I'd still recommend Iron Man over Man of Steel to 99% of movie goers. It's just more accessible and entertaining for all ages, etc. ).

I enjoyed both but have to give it to Man of Steel. In the end, I found that it had better villains. I'm not a tremendous fan of either hero, though. My rating for the films is in line with Batmannerism's. As far as accessibility, Iron Man's probably got Man of Steel beat.

Iron Man wins.

It isn't even close. Iron Man was one of those films that changed the genre and industry. It put Marvel Studios on the map. It was to Marvel what Batman Begins was to Nolan and Warner Brothers.

Robert Downey Junior owned the role. He performed. His charisma sold the movie and created a goldmine.

Thanks dude. Good call on the accessibility factor, RDJ was definitely a
stronger lead, and his presence dominates and carries the film.

It was a tough choice for me. I'm not an Iron man fan, but
all the praise people have heaped on the first IM movie was well deserved.
But Supes will always be number 1 -I didn't think Superman could work on the
big screen today, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Peace out !

Iron man easily. RDJ was perfect as Stark. Gave new life to the character. Not to say that Cavill was bad though. Really enjoyed his portrayal. Just wished the surrounding movie had been better.
I will never forget the feeling i had when Tony suits up in the Mk 3 and takes down those terrorists who were executing people. That was a fantastic hero moment.

Iron Man is probably the best superhero origin movie next to Superman: TM.

There's a reason why Iron Man went from being a C-list character to an A-list character seemingly overnight. The movie was that good.

If only it had a stronger third act.
