I'm not surprised that is going to be a flashback sequence. I just hope it won't have a continuity error.

Yea, that and they need to get across that its a sequel to the last stand, and not Origins. I would bet more than half of the general audience would think this movie is a direct sequel to Origins. With jean being in tv spots and trailers, that puts the idea to rest, while not revealing too much.

I think it could possibly be some kind of near-death experience. There's been a few instances in the comics where Wolverine has been nearly killed and has seen Jean (or Rose, thinking it was Jean) in a vision. During the Logan Files storyline this happens after he's lost his healing ability too.

Jean Grey's role in The Wolverine:

Quote:
Director James Mangold (“Girl, Interrupted," “Walk The Line”) recently spilled some beans to Entertainment Weekly (print edition only) regarding the more nerd-tantalizing elements of the film, specifically, the role of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), a perenially-resurrected mutant of godlike power who is central to the wider X-Men world and who in this film, despite being a “shadow presence” (and not necessarily alive) "pops up to mock, comfort and advise Logan much as Number 6 tortured Gaius Baltar on 'Battlestar Galactica' ” (we warned you this would get nerdy).

I just hope she doesn't pop up in the movie all the time. 2 to 3 scenes would be enough.

This movie should be about Wolverine, not Wolverine/Jean.

I really like that Baltar/6 type relationship for Wolverine/Jean in this. Maybe she's still kind of alive? Maybe it's part of her Phoenix persona still in existence?

It could be like in the comics where Dark Phoenix wasn't Jean at all but the Phoenix entity taking on her image to experience human emotions in a better physical vessel.

I like the idea that Jean is "resurrected" in visions/dreams like how Ras Al Ghul's "immortality" was portrayed through a vision in Dark Knight Rises.

It also seems that this Jean will be good (Phoenix) and her dark personality will also emerge, "Dark Phoenix" if you will. Not a literal translation but it will be nice to see on screen after 7 years.

It'd be cool to see the Phoenix effect or something...

Yeah, I really do hope this Wolverine can stand alone and not hark back to the previous ones too much especially the less than stella X3 or Origins.

But its cool if they do build off of the crappy film X3 , thus redeeming it slightly... Making it more of a building block movie.

I find it funny that Jean Grey got a character poster!

I think FOX is using her so more people would watch this movie!

Us: You recently shot a scene in Wolverine with Hugh Jackman. How did it feel to be back with him on set?

FJ: Hugh is one of the best guys in Hollywood, I love him. He is just an incredible actor, and someone I respect immensely. It has been such an honor to be involved with the X-Men films for so long, I was very happy to be coming back. Not to mention hešs not bad to look at.

Us: What is that guy's secret?

FJ: I'll tell you one of them. He has a set of weights on set with him all the time. I'd be filming a scene in bed with him, where hešs supposed to be asleep, when the director yells "cut" he jumps up and goes over to pump weights until their ready to shoot again. Then he just lies back down when the scene starts again and closes his eyes. He's a machine.

Going by what we saw of them in the last trailer, it seems they're having Logan struggling with guilt after having to kill Jean in X3. Considering that he has to kill Mariko in a similar way, I'm guessing it brings Logan to a point where he understands that what he gave them was mercy. If that's the case, I kind of like the idea of them possibly bridging those two scenes instead of just repeating something he already did in an earlier movie without a reference to it.

We know the part from the comics with the bear is in the movie, so it sounds like that theme fits in with all of that.

Have to say i'm still abit worried how far they will push the jean and logan thing with the sexual tension and acting like she was an ex gf, Its at risk of looking really forced

it does feel like all the X-men films have been the logan and jean love story with scott being the guy in the middle cock blocking and i think thats a shame as that should never have been how it was done

And its another reason why Jean shouldn't be resurrected again.

Her character poster is a bit weird because it's from Last Stand . Maybe it's because they want to promote the movie with Famke name but they don't want to give any clue about Jean in this movie.

If she's just his fantasy or a series of hallucinations, then she could be sexual or seductive and still not really have been his gf (he was in love with her, not the other way around). Also, I hear that Famke was rather hot in this movie.

Exactly what I predicted!

Jean got a character poster and was invited to the screenings/movie premiere for additional marketing.

As long as it isn't revealed it's due to some kind of psychedelic poisoning by Viper, just because she doesn't actually do anything physical, doesn't mean she isn't real.
