Her scenes in the trailer are very hazy and have a different color palatte then the rest of the movie, so it seems like Logan is either dreaming or having hallucinations.

In the comics, Mariko was poisoned. Rather than die a very painful death, she asked Wolverine to stab her with his claws, which he did.

I'm not seeing the movie until Tuesday, but one of the last tracks on the soundtrack (which I already have) is called "Goodbye Mariko", so it sounds like that's where they're heading here as well. At least I"m guessing at this point.

The HBO First Look had a ton of new clips, including one of Wolverine having a vision of Jean (it's one of the scenes in the rain), where she's saying, "This isn't going to end well..."

Did the First Look show air already? Stupid HBO Canada isn't airing it.

That makes sense. I have only read the Japan mini series. Thank you.

I was going to ask the same

imo the Jean Grey that we saw in TW is the Phoenix in the afterlife, the nice Jean Grey wouldn't say the things that the Jean in TW said to Wolverine.

She was more of a manifestation of his guilt than anything else.

IA. Especially given the focus of their conversations. She was always talking about him "staying" with her, or the fact that he had killed her.

Although, I admit I have mixed feelings about that approach. I get why she was there in the movie and I get why Wolverine would see her that way. But I think it might have been interesting if we saw her evolve a bit, start to challenge his attitude towards her, push him change and move on. It would have been more interesting, and I think it would have done better service to her character. I want to remember Jean as an intelligent woman who sacrificed her self for her friends, not as a source of Wolverine's angst: and I'd like to see HIM remember her that way too.

Also, I think that route would have made it possible to interpret it as being the real Jean trying to help Logan move on.

I noticed that her final scene was in a white room. White Hot Room reference perhaps?

I loved the jean grey scenes. It's funny, after all these years I still enjoy that relationship. Famke was so beautiful and she acted it really well. I'm so glad they included her.

Truthfully I didn't like her scenes. At first I appreciated the tie-ins/continuity from the last film, but by the end all her scenes felt repetitive and annoying. However...
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I was glad that by the end of it, Logan appeared to have forgiven himself and moved on from her.

I was really suppose not only how much she was in the film but how well it worked. Very nice way to put a real bookend on the film franchise version of Jean.

Does it feel like the Baltar/Six relationship in Battlestar Galactica?

In my opinion:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
It's more Phoenix. But as someone else said, it's more Logan's imagination of her than anything. But the persona is much more "Phoenix" than it is "Jean Grey", what with her subtle taunting and haunting of him and such.
