Personally I think thats what i liked most about this Wolverine film, it didnt need to be the big "world is going to be destroyed", it was a character story and its best moments were all those smaller moments. Where Wolverine VS Shingen beats out something like Iron Man battling "White" Mandarin with 42 armours.

I think Marvel can take a few notes from this film as it really was a proper solo film, everything that happened was so confined you weren't asking yourself wheres the X-Men??
Yeah I liked that this was a much smaller scale, it was refreshing. I think this is probably why I came out of this with a similar feeling as I did to the original X-Men film back in 2000, one of satisfaction and eagerly awaiting the next film in this universe.

The scene where he starts going HAM in his all black funeral outfit...
man that was bananas...

And I'll piggy back on the folks talking about this being a small scale, very personal film. I loved that about the movie as well.

Even though it was a little bit cheese filled I loved the whole:

"You asked me to come say goodbye, well SAYONARA!!"

It at least sounded like a one liner Logan would say in the comics and Hugh's delivery was pretty badass.

And hey who doesnt like a little cheese in their burger

People keep saying that line is cheesy.. I, for one, don't see it as being cheesy at all. It's so Logan like and like you said, straight out of the comics.

I think it could have been a lot worse but Hugh just went for it and pulled it off

and it is in keeping with the character, a comic book character at that, so theres always a line in a CBM that can be considered a bit corny even The Dark Knight I expect has one or two.

Its the nature of the beast, but not necessarily a bad thing.

Lets see.

Wolverine performing surgery on himself

The Bathing scene

The whole funeral chase with Harada sniping guys with arrows.

Wolverine vs Shingen.

Stabbing the hunter with the arrow and after saying "funny you should ask"

Oh, I am not so high and mighty that I couldn't have a laugh with that. He was fighting a guy wearing a giant robot suit, just let the silly line fly at that point.

And I'll take "Sayanora!" over:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

"You're a monster Zod, and I'm going to stop you."

And:

"You can back to save your city?"
"No, I came back to stop you."

And I quite enjoyed both movies that I quoted there, but I thought their dialogue needed a little more oomph when taking on their nemesis.

Exactly, if theres a comic book movie without a cheesy line or two in it then I haven't seen it.

I'm just glad we didnt have the "one finger" claw moment again in this film was funny the first time in X1 but got a little dull by the time of Origins

In most comic book movies the cheesiest line comes in the third act when they are taking on the main villain.

I have, it was excellent, it still had a few cheese lines in it, not to mention January Jones, but all CBM's do and its not a bad thing if well executed and they can still by great films even when not
