My top 3:
#1 - ASM 31 - Just gorgeous! Love the red primary and Ditko's Spidey head renederd in the center (I own this copy in near mint condition, one of the prizes of my collection - actually the other 2 listed I own NM to NM/M copies of as well) ![]() #2 - ASM 135 - Classic Romita! Gives all the elements of the story in one shot! ![]() #3 - ASM 300 - not a huge fan of the black suit, not a big fan of that era in comics but LOVED Michelinie's writing and McFarlane's art and this cover is classic Toddy. ![]() |

first, spidey, may i compliment you on your nicholas hammond av? i'vealways loved nicholas' portrayal of the web-slinger, the most mature and adult to date. nicholas was my first spider-man.
always loved this cover to amazing 233, which i have signed by both jr and roger stern. ![]() amazing 101 begs you to read it. READ ME, it seems to be saying. ![]() nothing need be said about this one... ![]() (i have this one signed by sr!) great thread! |

I bought it for $3 at a comic shop with minimal water damage to the bottom right corner. Still in decent condition though.

And man! I forgot about #101! Actually probably a tie for second for me! Can't believe that one slipped past me! I have that one in a VF/NM condition. I as a HUGE fan of the '72 telefilm The Night Stalker and that front cover attracted me immediately as it looked like the same house from the movie! And I hated everything else Gil Kane illustrated except for Spidey! Funny thing with me is I have a lot of autographs but I don't like them signing my comics. I know this adds value but I don't collect with the idea of making them as valuable as I can. I buy the highest grade of each issue I can find and try my best to keep in as pristine a condition as I can. I'm probably odd man out in that regard but I just like my comics blemish-free and that includes scarring them with signatures. Last edited by Spider - Man; 08-26-2013 at 06:57 AM. |

^actually, i think sigs can actually detract from the value of a comic, especially if they're not authenticated. personally, i really enjoy getting them, as each one represents a conversation had with a creator while looking over a comic that i have carted all over the place with me. but i hear where your coming from.
this one was my oldest asm until about ten years ago, when i picked up issue 11. i have since gotten my hands on #7 in terrible condition. ![]() always loved this one... ![]() one of my all-time favorites. how i miss the days of a nice self-contained issue... ![]() |

Bagley had so many awesome covers. Can anyone post a scan of #392 (Peter Parker no more?). That's one of my favorites. Not so much the actual story, but the cover itself is gorgeous and a great homage to the original Romita cover. And it only uses one color: red.
EDIT: Here it is. ![]() I also love PP:SM #75 the final chapter of the clone saga with Pete and a bloodied Ben Reilly trying to fend off a crazed Norman. Man, what a classic. EDIT: Here ![]() Last edited by JJJ's Ulcer; 08-28-2013 at 01:01 AM. |

Aloha, I would agree. I have Stan Lee's sig on Web of S-M #1 and it's a memory that I'll keep forever.I should have gotten a picture of him signing it. Because without COA sigs can take away from the value of a comic.I guess you can pay for handwriting analysis. Spidey rules |

Another JJJ cover I love, is the one from around that time where he's shooting a machine gun like an action hero. Don't know which issue exactly.

That "Crisis on Campus" pose made Marvel a TON of money from merchandising.
