So we will NEVER get anything out of the X-men movies ?

How is it possible when we had minimates and Charles hot toy ? Or is that before the deal was made.

I think it's less that Fox can't merchandise, but as they don't solely own those rights, they are less inclined to bother. Origins got a toy line, The Wolverine has a Marvel Select figure. There's been mini mates for a few of the films. Doesn't appear that anything significant is happening this time around.

The Charles Hot Toy has never been released, and I kind of doubt it'll be now.

So bummed. It was a thing of beauty.

I still remember the first X-Men movie figures. Those were cool. They had the jet, all the characters, set pieces, and tons of different packs. Sadly for this movie all I can expect from Marvel is probably just another Wolverine figure and perhaps a Professor X and Magneto figure or nothing at all. They didn't do anything for first class, so I don't really expect much now. Would be surprised if they do release all the characters from the movie.

Yeah the only way Disney would consider to release a whole set of X-men action figures is if this new movie is a hit. Just by what we have seen and read about this movie, it will be a hit. I am not saying it will make Avengers type of money, but it will make the most of any X-men film so far World Wide. The international numbers for these movies keep rising. Also, The cast is good, and the director that started it all is back. The story that this is based on is pretty interesting in itself and singer now has more money to do more with his X-Men films. It's the biggest X-men project to date and now that Fox seems to want to compete with Avengers and Batman/Superman it can only mean good things.

I have the trading card set for Origins. They produced those for every X-Men movie but First Class and The Wolverine. Which sucks, because I love collecting those.

There's a convention that comes to my town called Chiller Theater, and there's a table that sells Japanese movie theater programs. I have them for X1, X2, and Origins. They're really cool! Planning to pick up the rest when they come back this fall.

They were too busy doing Captain America and Thor merchandise. Same for next year.

It is sad that the marketing for the film is minimal, as it has blockbuster potential spraypainted over it.

Yeah, in terms of tv shows, action figures and video games. Sucks, the only marvel game that I am excited for is the Marvel lego, and it is because they got some X-men in there.

I totally want a calendar for The Wolverine. Won't happen...but I'd get one if they had one.

I'm not worried about the marketing. I'm willing to bet it'll have about as much or more promotion and marketing as X3...which had internet ads, tv ads and even had the seven minute trailer that premiered on FOX.

I'm pretty confident will market the hell out of DOFP.

As for as merchandise goes, I just want a 27x40 movie poster...so long as they make good ones this time around.

I think Disney are trying to sabotage X-Mens audience awareness

Think about it, there is no X-Men cartoon at the moment, no X-Men games scheduled and hardly any X-Men movie merchandise.

I agree, especially about the no X men shows. Marvel has 3 shows on air at the moment and yet no xmen apart from Logan has appeared in any of them.

It's not Disney's job to advertise a rival studios movie. If FOX really wanted the merchandising rights. They would bargain for it & perhaps trading rights for the merchandising one. The fact that they have not is curious in itself

I can't see Disney ever selling off the merchandising rights to the X-Men. If they come to that point, they might as well sell off everything X-Men, including animation and publication rights, to FOX. But Disney was able to reach a deal with Sony regarding Spider-man movie merchandise, so they may be open to reaching a similar deal with FOX, especially if it includes reversion of the FF film rights.

I don't believe Disney is being vindictive or spiteful in regards to their treatment of the X-Men. If you look at the difference between Iron Man and Wolverine merchandise, it's just good business:

If Disney allows a licensee to put a $20 Iron Man 3 shirt on sale, the studio...

A) Receives a full licensing fee (let's say 10%) of $2.
B) Increases visibility for its billion dollar Iron Man and Avengers film franchises.
C) Improves public awareness of one of the studio's most valuable characters.

Compare that to Disney allowing a licensee to put a $20 The Wolverine shirt on sale, the studio...

A) Receives a partial licensing fee (let's assume a 60%/40% split) of $1.20.
B) Increases visibility for a film franchise held almost in its entirety by FOX and decreases the possibility that the film rights will ever revert.
C) Improve public awareness of one of a rival studio's most valuable characters.

There's definitely room for a deal to be made, and hopefully the studios will reach an agreement that will allow both the FOX X-Men franchise and the MCU to thrive going forward.

I'd be so happy if FOX bargained full rights to X-Men in exchange for Fantastic Four lol
