Its also good to see TW in the top ten global list for the BO in the year. Its not going to finish there with Thor 2 and Hobbit 2 to come but at least it made it there at some point.

I think mainly because it's basically a Japanese movie. Pretty much the whole movie is about the Japanese culture and their sense of family, honor and traditions. Not to mention it's a 3D movie (even though it wasn't shot that way). Finally, it features several popular Japanese actors/models.

And here's an example: The Last Samurai. It earned an astonishing $119 million. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pag...astsamurai.htm. Much like The Wolverine, it was set in Japan and relied heavily on the Japanese culture and their traditions.

It'd be nice for it to make as much as The Last Samurai but I don't think it can make that much over there maybe 30-50 million max

The Last Samurai starred Tom Cruise, the most famous actor in the world. If The Wolverinegrosses even one-third of that movie,it would be considered a huge success

I understand that about Tom Cruise...but The Last Samurai grossed more in Japan than it did in the USA. The subject matter was a key factor.

Not that big. But maybe 20 million big. The first X-Men movie earned 16 million in Japan and with price inflation/3d tickets, who knows.

Who cares? I heard it was pretty funny.

The Wolverine's box office is what it is at this point.

Well I prefer if not a lot of movies outgross The Wolverine.

Would you feel fine about the movie landing outside of the top 20 or top 30 grossing-films in the U.S. this year?

Wow thats some big figures for TLS in Japan and yeah TW I doubt will come close to that but anything in the 20-30m range would be a great boost to the final TW figure.

I dont know for sure but it feels like it jas been heavily marketed in Japan so I am sure it will be a success, I hope so anyway.

First Class got $7,791,919 in Japan. With 3D tickets, the premiere night in Japan, price inflation and all that exposure. I'm sure The Wolverine will at least get 10 million!

Yeah that's what I think. If Fox really wanted to make some cash they should've done some distribution deal like Universal, have you seen how much Ted has done out there.

$358,200,000 world wide.

It's now passed FC and is the 4th highest grossing in this series. I really think Japan can push us passed Origins.

The Wolverine is slashing its way toward the $250 million overseas mark. It will need a solid performance from Japan, where the film is set, to take its current $232 million overseas total to the new milestone. The Wolverine opens in Japan on September 13. The film has grossed $359.8 million worldwide.

X-Men Origins:Wolverine -373 million

The Wolverine has made 358 million and is yet to open in Japan.I think it should cross 373 million.

I think DOFP should showcase many mutants and their powers. That is my biggest complaint about The Wolverine. That's where X-2 stood out.Not only did it have a strong story but it appealed to the kid inside me that love to see a lot of mutants and a brief of display of their powers.I want to see Wolverine go berserker against a few Sentinels. That would make the movie even better.
