He denied ever having HIV and claimed a doctor that gave the diagnosis was paid off by a rival boxing promoter. He also referred to all doctors as "quacks". Another thing that I'm sure didn't help was a couple of years ago he had a surgery performed and the surgeon left a foot of gauze in his chest. It led to all sorts of nerve disease that he and the family kept mostly quiet.

Tommy "Gunn" was his character's name from the Rocky 5 movie. Most people remember him from the movie than from his actual boxing career.

Actually his name in that movie was Tommy 'The Machine' Gunn. So that article didn't even get his Rocky movie name right.

And it was he, not the Rocky character that died, the least they could've done was do a little more research before posting something.

When I was going through my Star Wars phase, I started at the earliest book of the Episode I era and read (well, listened to) them chronologically through the Bounty Hunters trilogy. Not being a big watcher of the original trilogy, I was very uninterested in the Han Solo trilogy, the first chronological book that dealt with Episode IV characters. Yet, when it turned into one of the best stories of the whole run.

I don't know who wrote them but I never did get around to his second trilogy or the Lando ones. I was always curious about those.

She isn't dead yet but it's still a tragedy. I liked her novels, mostly the Star Wars ones I've read and maybe some of the Alien ones as well. She's a good novelist.

That was an incredibly sad day when he died. He seemed like a genuinely nice and fun loving kind of guy.

R.I.P to Ken Norton a great heavyweight boxer,
only the second man to defeat Muhammad Ali at his peak
and who gave memorable performances in films like Drum and
Mandingo
